Redang Holiday Beach Villa
Ranked #12 of 12 Hotels in Pulau Redang
Reviewed 14 August 2013

Top 10 Reasons why you shouldn't stay there for the sake of your trip.

1. Superb dirty public toilet and restaurant, next to each.
2. Bad reception skills, rude, obviously double standard towards guest in terms of customer service gap between asian and western.
3. Room is dirty, dusty and never maintain.
4. Not even a towel and mineral being provided.
5. Check-in wait 2 hours for the room to be ready without a proper explanation and service level.
6. Poor location, at the end of redang bay.
7. No TV, no Internet, no kettle, no fridge, no cupboard in the room!
8. Food was horrible, fighting for food like in world war.
9. No groceries and convenient shops. Better standby.
10. Sandy beach, sandy room, sandy bed, sandy chairs, sandy floors, everywhere sands!

If you love redang and anticipated for the long awaited vacations, do not stay this so called "last resort". Go redang bay or others around the same resorts instead. They do not appreciate customers and the pony tail person in charge don't serve asian rights.

Family with kids don't go there.
Dating, Valentines, Anniversary, Honeymoon please avoid for the good of your relationship. I bet she will tells you NO! every night in the entire trip coz losing every sense of intimation with these kind of environment especially the room.
Teenager with limited budget, try look for other resort within same range. Definitely you'll get better treatment than here.

In one word......manky! Stayed in many places across Malaysia over the past 10 years and this place is hands down the worst place I have ever stayed in. Quite simply, don't do it to yourself. This is the worst place on the island for the following reasons:

1- filthy dining and kitchen area
2- filthy chalets with stained and ripped bedding, termites in window frames, huge gaps under doors for mozzies and other insects
3-bathroom floods, brown water, taps come off, dirty tiles
4-caters for large groups, so the food is buffet style. When it runs out , it's out! As mentioned before, get there early and prepare to queue, but the food is not worth it.
5-snorkelling trips are done in very large groups of 30 people. If you want a smaller group you have to pay 500rm for a private trip.

As its non refundable we stayed for 2 nights, and moved as soon as another place was available on the island. We spent the previous 2 days using all the other resorts restaurants, bars and toilets. Such a shame that they are getting away with charging so much for something so bad!

I read the reviews after I booked the resort, but the island was full so decided we would manage. We made the most out of it, but spent as little time as possible and could not wait to leave. Thats not what a holiday is about. Don't do it to your self!

Me and my boyfriend recently stayed here, it is the 2nd time I have been. The island is absolutely beautiful, crystal clear water lovely beach. The snorkelling trips they organised were very good, we saw turtles, sharks etc. the guys from the hotel really got involved showing us where to go and swimming with us. The staff are very polite and helpful, John is lovely and took us out on snorkelling trips later in the evening to see more. Downsides.., the food is not great, rooms too dark, and yes there is litter which is a shame. Overall is he a great place to stay.

And your expectations should be adjusted. No room cleaning, almost no furniture, generally dark (bungalow), bathrooms that not encourage long stays, ants/termites in the window frame.
Food (included) is OK but monotonous.

This might be perfect as a vacations camp for youngsters and backpackers, but might not be what everybody searches.

On the positive side though: Redang is a beautiful island, and the staff is positive and helpful with their limited measures.

I decided to choose this villa as redang pelangi have been fully booked due to peak season. It turns out the villa was actually quite a decent place to stay despite some negative reviews. But we don't need a 5-stars resort to stay because we will be spending our time at the beach for a long time!

Talk about the pros of this villa: good location (end of the beach) and good customer service. The guy John is very helpful when you faced any issues. The cons will be: poor water system (which I think it occured to others resort too), small and thin blanket and a bit of filthy if you really do mind hygiene. Food was just average and don't put too much expectation to it. Concluding my own opinions, it is a fine choice to stay in this villa provided that you do not mind about little things.

However, 3 snorkeling trips were so fun and exciting! We are grateful that their people helped us during the snorkeling and helped us took picture under the sea (Rental fee of underwater camera will be rm30 onwards/per day, depends on your usage, have to return it back on 7pm, pictures and videos will be burned into a DVD).

All in all, it was a fun trip as 6 of us enjoyed the whole trip!

Redang Holiday Beach Villa is located at the far end of the beach strip, away from the ferry drop off point. Therefore you won't find much activities gathered around there. However, if you are looking for a secluded spot to relax, I find it relatively decent.

For tourists with great expectation about overall quality, I am afraid that this resort might not be up to your liking. However, if you are easily accommodating, I find Redang Holiday to be acceptable. Of course, you are bound to get disappointed if you are comparing it to the next door SARI PACIFICA resort, yet I can't comment on the price difference since I didn't do any comparison.

My family of 4 stay in a standard room with 2 queen sized beds. There are literally no entertainment in the room (no TV) so you might want to make it up by bringing your own board/card games etc to entertain yourself. Hairdryer & water kettle are not provided as well. However you can refill your water at the dining area. WiFi is provided at the reception area however for light surfing only.

You are able to rent the snorkeling equipment for 30 MYR (Goggles without power & life jacket) and use it throughout your stay there for snorkeling trips or just casual snorkeling by the seaside. It is certainly fun to join in at least 2 out of 3 snorkeling trips provided by the resort as they go to different areas usually (Marine Park in the morning, open seas in the afternoon).

Food wise, I have to say it is one of the weakest point of the resort. Do not expect quality food, and even the supposedly BBQ dinner is readily prepared with limited options (Chicken, Mutton, Sausages, no seafood in sight) Flies are quite prevalent in the dining area so there are definitely room for improvement cleanliness wise.

For tourists looking for souvenirs, there is no gift shop in the resort. You will have to walk to adjacent resorts to look for them.

Regardless, the beach area on this resort's side is really crystal clear and very easy to anyone to dive in and have fun. The staffs are very hospitable and helpful, and this is where I think it makes up for the resort as a whole. There is a small bar by the seaside that plays music during late evening.

The resort do provide transportation service from bus station/airport to the jetty pick up point. If you are travelling by bus, the jetty is within walking distance, in hindsight you can choose not to take up this service if you are travelling light. A special shout out to the drivers Mr Tan & Mr Yassin for being helpful & on time.

All in all, I believe for the price I pay, the resort definitely meet my expectation (I have quite low expectation to begin with anyway). There are definitely room for improvements in many aspects though.

I was on my honeymoon with my husband and this place was available. Unfortunately I didn't look up the reviews before booking. Big mistake.
The place is basically filthy: there is trash everywhere. They don't clean anything. When we were there, we were completely surrounded by a bunch of rowdy, loud high school groups from China and Singapore. We ended up paying 500MYR for a bungalow far away. When we returned to our room, there was about 8 chinese students just chilling on our balcony enjoying our view and littering the ground. It was incredibly invasive.
The room itself, if you go for a basic room, looks like something that anywhere else in the country, you would pay no more than 70 MYR for. It is ugly, with paint falling off the walls and the bathrooms look like they haven't been updated in maybe 40 years.
There was a bunch of monkees hanging around and no, they weren't cute. Due to tourists constantly trying to appraoch them and feed them, these wild animals have become incredibly aggresive. They attacked my husband and another tourist. The reoist does nothing to try and make them go away.
The resort claims to have "WIFI". By this, they mean that they bought a cheap 30$ residential router in order to cater for about the 30 students who are constantly online with their IPads. It would take 10 minutes to load a page. We were fortunate enough that the beautiful resort next door, SARI PACIFICA, surprisingly for the same price, had much stronger internet connection despite its distance from the Redang Holiday lobby. The staff was nice enough to give us their password.
When we arrived, I wanted to cry. I was so incredibly disappointed, thinking that this would be a beautiful holiday given the incredibly high price. Please don't make the same mistake as us. We tried cancelling our room reservation in orde to stay next door at the SARI PACIFICA, but the woman (who is not there, she is at some office on the mainlyand), said once you sign, you're locked in. Isn't that 5* service?
All resorts on this beach are nicer than Redang Holiday and are either cheaper or the same pirce. YOU COULD GET MUCH BETTER LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT DOOR (SARI PACIFICA or the CORAL REDAND ISLAND RESORT).
