Visited this resort on August 16th 2014 and availed the 3D/2N package. We had already booked for the package and paid additionally for the airport pickup and drop, snorkeling gear rental and discover scuba diving package.

We were promplty picked up at the Terengganu airport and taken to Shahbandar Jetty where everything was taken care of. From there we boarded the first ferry and the journey began. On arriving at the island, Harris from the staff gave us an awsome introduction to the resort and activities for the next few days. He was very hilarious and it was a nice welcome.

We had opted for the deluxe sea view room which was drop dead gorgeous. The view from the balcony was amazing and serene. The room was very clean, spacious and well maintained. I am generally very particular about the rooms and bathrooms when booking hotels and was hoping here it would be ok. But to my satisfaction they were just wonderful and comfortable. The rooms are not very sound proof so at night we could hear the live band. But after a long day we just wanted to crash so that wasn't much of a problem.

The itenary does get a little packed with the three complimentary snorkeling packages + scuba diving which we wanted to do + playing at the beach + lazing around +relaxing. So you will find yourself racing against time.

The diving team was super and my thanks to Jonas, Wei, Shyam a.k.a Don and others who took care of us, made us feel comfortable and let us have a blast. For the snorkeling trips, there were too many tourists but thanks to many posts here I was prepared for it and learnt to ignore them and make the most of what I could. If you go could snorkeling by yourself or in a smaller group that would be great. Also, they took great pics for us to keep for memories sake.

The beach was very clean and the sand so soft. But watch out for alot of dead coral that gets washed up ashore and are in the shallow parts of the beach. Advisable to wear footwear and not go barefoot.

Again all the posts here had already warned us to go on time for the buffet spreads otherwise it would get over and not be refilled. Since the tourists are predominantly from China, the cuisine was more leaning towards their taste. The pasta counter, breads, salads and completely cooked meat/sea food was a saviour.

In the evening they have a live band at a bar which plays mixed songs including english and a ballroom made into a disco. The recreation room has board games and billiards. And the spa with its range of massages. So there is always something to do if not just sit by the beachside.

On the last day our flight was at 11am and the first ferry was to leave at 9am. So the resort was very kind to arrange a special ferry for us to leave at 7am and since we would be missing the breakfast buffet, they handed each of us a small takeaway picnic basket.

All in all, loved the place and had a blast. The staff had taken care of everything and we did not have to fret about anything. The check in and check out was very smooth. Cannot comment about the wifi since we went tech free during the trip.

If you take away the ruckus created by the Chinese tourists and the jostling and grabbing of food at meal times this is the place to visit!

Room Tip: 1. Ask in particular for the beach facing (sea view) deluxe room and away from the live band which p...

The hotel is not bad, rooms are clean and spacious, it fronts a beautiful stretch of the coast and the staff isn't too bad, they are prompt and helpful. But it all goes downhill from there. The resort is overrun by PRC tourists. There is loud chinese karaoke at night and meal times reminds you of a scene out of a prison canteen where food is mass produced and people jostle around grabbing as much food as they can get. It is kind of sad as it is not the hotel's fault but I would think twice about returning. Thumbs up to the dive centre and the people there though, very professional and friendly.

Big hotel, lots of tourists, mainly from China. If you manage to avoid the crowded boat tours and stay in the bay during the day, the place is quite and rewarding. Lots of baby sharks on the left side of the bay, and on the right side, the parents can be briefly spotted. Plenty of tropical fish. Good choice of open buffet breakfast. We opted not to go for the full package, so can't comment on dinners. Try and hire a boat for a couple of hours to snorkel on the nearby smaller islands.

Stayed the second time for 5D/4N in early August since my first visit in March this year. Staying here again just because I know that the room would be spacious enough for the 3 of us including our 11-year-old grand daughter. The resort was still packed with Mainland Chinese and they shouted and screamed everywhere from early in the morning till late night. I submitted my commend to the management last time but there was completely NO feedback. They should not ask for commend from guests if they were not going to give them reply. The crew on the boat were still smoking as before during the journey to and from snorkelling although the journey only took 5 to 20 minutes, resulting that all passengers in the compartment were forced to become second hand smokers. Although I love Redang Island, I will not stay in this resort again as there was no free WIFI.

Room Tip: Deluxe pool view is more quiet, Room 737 given to us this was good.

FeedbackLaguna, General Manager at Laguna Redang Island Resort, responded to this review, 24 August 2014
Dear Ms. Rosa, greetings from Laguna Redang Island Resort!

First of all, thank you for choosing to stay with us for the second time within this year.

With regards to the comment forms you have submitted, we would like to convey our sincere thanks to you for taking the time to submit to us. You may be interested to know that we value the guest comment very much that all guest comment forms were read out word by word in our weekly management meeting and appropriate actions are being taken for the improvement of services to the guests.

As to the issue of smoking whilst on the boat, this is strictly not allowed and we constantly take disciplinary actions against any staff who violate this regulation. We will take further steps to ensure this issue is completely eliminated.

Concerning the drinking water, our current policy is to provide each guest with one bottle per day. We provide 4 bottles to each room per day for them to share. We will evaluate your suggestion when we are doing our new budgeting at the end of the year.

Ms. Rosa, once again, we thank you for your valuable comment. In the meantime, we do look forward to your next visit in the near future.

10-13 August 2014. This was our 3rd visit. We had a great room (404) with superb view of the sea. Four days here was just right. 3 days would have been too rushed and 5 days, boredom would set in. Clean fine sand at the beach. As we walked along the beach we realised that the sand at the other resorts was different - not as fine. Same beach, different sand?? Fishes swim right up to you as you wade into the sea. My kids snorkeled by the beach in the morning and snorkeled in deeper waters in the afternoon. Saw some baby sharks, stingrays and blue sand! What an experience! We forgot to check out yellow sand - had to wait till 11pm when the tide is low to see this. Get friendly with the recreational staff - they have great tips and advice. Food was great - a buffet spread for every meal. Wished they had a better dessert spread though. All in, a great beach holiday!

Nice vacations in the paradise... We spent only three days here, but they were full of joy, positive emotions, beautiful views, different activities and eager of coming back. Very cheap luxury rest for a couple.

Room Tip: Choose sea view rooms if you travel couple and swimming pool rooms for family.
