“6 stars for atmosphere”

We got a tip for this auberge at our previous place we stayed at - La Gazelle de Dades. After checking the address and finding out that the village (Asfalou) is some 4 km from Ait ben Haddou we had minor doubts if this is the right place to go, but then just decided not to search for alternatives and keep the recommendation from La Gazelle - we couldn´t do better ! Definitely worth the detour, this place has the atmosphere which will catch you right away - morroccan in the very meaning of the word, with the right mixture of traditional - colours, plaster techniques, furniture, decorations - all that create at the end a brilliant "genius loci" of this place. The rooms are spacious, clean, have big terraces with nice views over gardens, ..and all this for a very friendly price - 310 Dh for a double with breakfast ( which was great as well, with a real butter at last, after the previous margarine diet ) The main sight - ksar Ait ben Haddou is easily reachable either by foot through gardens or paved road, by taxi or hitch-hiking.

We've been already a few years ago, and it was wonderfull.... This time, well... still wonderfull...
Abderhamane and Zoé have enlarged the inn, with a spectacular view from the roof terrace on the gardens and the valley of Ait Benhaddou. The food is still very good, tasty and well perfumed with all these nice spices and fresh products.....
Staying there is such a delight, so peacefull... Disconnect yourselves from dab to day stress, and just relax, enjoy the Morrocan kindness and hospitality.
Prices are really "democratic" compared to some over priced hotels in the area.
Very well situated near by Ait Benhaddou, and dipped in a very spectacular nature, Auberge Ayouze is really a place to stay, and feel like at home... away !

Room Tip: most of rooms have their owne balcony with a stunning view over the valley...

This place was recommended to us from Marrakech, and we were not disappointed.
1st we came by bus and was dropped off "at the cross roads" and was met by one of the owners, very nice (not french) a real sweet heart.
Who then took us there after a few stops for photos and information about the area, after showing us our rooms, we were taken to the roof for a welcome of mint tea ..... and what a spot, the view onto the gardens and this green after the dry sands was good for the soul.
We stayed 2 nights and I think that would be the max. everyone else there at that time came with car. So the 1st night we had a very nice dinner then in the morning took a taxi into Quarzazate to organize a car hire, which is so much more expensive then Marrakech, but we had no choice.

Room Tip: My husband & I had room No1 it has a window out to the view. My friends had No5 which had a bett...

We are an Israeli family with three children including one year old baby, we had the most fantastic time at the auberge, under the night sky with the starts...the brothers who run the auberge are very welcoming and even spent some time learning Hebrew. The food is also first rate.

This was my first time in Morocco. I travelled with my friends from Germany, who know Morocco very well. We went by car around the country and stayed in different places.
It speaks for itself that we returned to Auberge Ayouze after one of us stayed here last year.
The hotel is situated on the edge of Asfalou and it's wonderfully quite there. It is a good getaway from hectic city life and it allows experiencing real Morocco. At the same time it is close to all tourist attractions.
The hotel is very cozy and homelike. We felt there very welcomed and it was very nice that the chef cook Driss remembered eating preferences of my friend since her last stay. We were really fond of the very tasty food prepared by Driss and enjoyed very friendly atmosphere created by the hotel owners, Driss and Ibrahim.
And there are many very interesting places to visit in this area - starting from cultural and architectural like Glaoui kasbah in Telouet and ending up with picturesque sceneries in the Atlas mountains.
I would be happy to return to Auberge Ayouze and would gladly advise this hotel to others.

A friend and I stayed in a twin room (one double and one single bed) here on Sunday 10 November and in a triple room (one double and two single beds) on Friday 15 November.

The twin room had great views over the valley and the balcony area was a decent sun trap in the morning. My bed was comfortable but my friend's was a bit on the firm side. The en suite bathroom was fine.

The triple room was more basic and badly lit (although the shower was better once the hot water had flowed through), with an erratic flush on the toilet that sometimes took hours.

Breakfast was the usual tea/coffee with bread and jams/honey, along with some very nice freshly-made pancakes, which we had on the terrace upstairs. Dinner on both nights was soup (different kinds)-main course (tagine/cous cous)-fruit salad and it was of decent quality on both nights. We had some Moroccan red wine with dinner (which is extra).

For me it was the friendly service and hospitality that made the hostel stand out: the staff were interested in where we had been and where we were going and suggested things that were worth seeing.

At 200dh per person per night for half board, I think you would struggle to find anywhere better than this in the area, especially as it is slightly out of the tourist trap that is Ait Benhaddou.
