My mother and I enjoyed an incredible night here on our way south. The hotel has an incredible view, the room was so cozy and beautifully decorated, the hot shower was amazing! We enjoyed hot mint tea (and wifi) by the fireplace before having a great dinner. The hotel is beautifully decorated and exudes rustic berber luxury. The staff were attentive and kind; they helped us arrange where to stay next on our trip. Can't recommend it enough!

Room Tip: We booked a salon room with views of the kasbah across the valley. Arrived by night and were amazed at the incredible view when we opened the curtains!

Very convenient location to visit Ait Benhaddou. its just a short walk across the river bed. Fantastic view of the city from the back terrace and a sky full of stars in the evening. the swimming pool is great too. The resturant has a great fixed menu at a reasonable price and alcohol is available.

Set in the dusty plains in the foothills of the High Atlas between the Tizi n Tichka pass and Ouazazate, Ait Benhaddou is the sort of place one doesn't want to caught without a roof over one's head for the night.
Enter stage right Dar Mouna, a stone built guest house, tucked away in the back streets of the village. Behind the garden walls ( where some of the food for the dining room is grown ) is a 12 bedroom refuge. The staff are welcoming, the traditionally furnished rooms are all en suite and the ground floor has a large salon with an open fire for the chilly winter evenings, where guests can chat over a drink before dinner.
The dining room is furnished with Moroccan tables, chairs, and rugs, and the excellent food is served on brightly coloured plates from Safi, Morocco's pottery capital. Like the salon, there is an open fire which is lit in the winter.
Breakfast, like dinner is excellent, fresh orange juice and coffee, crepes, fresh bread, and honey.
For summer visits, the terrace overlooking the Kasbah is perfect - views of the mountains in the distance, the endless plains stretching out towards the Dades Valley, and of course the extraordinary Kasbah.
Also handy for summer is the reasonably sized swimming pool in the garden.
For those who have travelled extensively in Morocco, Dar Mouna is pretty much up there. For first time visitors accustomed to western standards it might not be quite they might expect, particularly in the bedroom department. The en suites are basic and functional, there is hot running water ( not always available in Morocco ) and a new addition since my last visit are the reversible air con / heaters in all rooms.
In terms of price relative to quality it is very good value.

Room Tip: Always choose a room on the terrace side of the building with views of the Kasbah.

Amazing view over the Kasbah. Lovely terrace and excellent swimming pool. Incredibly atmospheric interior of hotel - must be experienced to be believed. Felt like a movie star. Good (fixed and fixed price) dinner, not just for residents, but ensure you book. Am considering taking up permanent residence.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the main hotel, rather than in the outside rooms

As the hotel was booked by our tour company, we did not really know what to expect BUT we were thoroughly surprised! Our little room 1 was perfect, spacious and comfortable. You only need to stay one night here if you are taking a break from your long drive. The Kasbah is a must-see and you have the perfect view of it from the hotel! Totally worth our time and money! Dinner and breakfast was so so so good! Service is great. Shower is fine! We enjoyed our stay at this little gem!

Just a small warning: you are driving to what seems like and is the middle of nowhere. So don't be shocked!
