It is a Nice hostel, i recommend this place because: the nice and clean rooms, perfect location, beatifull rooftop, friendly owners (thanks Ann), good place for young people!
There where notes with a timetable for hot water...we tried but we had cold showers unfortunately. But we managed.
This was our first cold shower in Marocco. I am sure they Will do something about it, to fix it.

Hi thanks for your review and thanking the team at the Baraka especially my Mum sorry about the cold shower we have had new system fitted but it's gas and that relies on pressure which is beyond our control but honestly I would say it worked well happy you enjoyed our place .Cheers Joe

This is a great spot right inside the beautiful blue medina. I would say it's a mix between a hostel and home stay -- some rooms have private bathrooms, some don't. There aren't any dorm rooms. Breakfast is delicious -- but make sure you tell the owner the day before if you're planning on having breakfast the next morning or not -- she runs a tight ship :)

There is an AMAZING rooftop deck and patio area, with a small outdoor kitchen. The view of Chef from above is nice. The place is several stories high, and there are rooms on each floor. My room was clean and had everything I needed, but it didn't have a window, and there was a lack of plugs -- I had to unplug one of the two lamps to be able to charge my camera battery or my phone, and that left the room a little dark, ha.

But I did really like the place and the location, and the other guests were really friendly -- we had a nice dinner out with several us from Riad on my last night in Chef.

Since your stay at the Baraka there have been many updates ,new shower system, more sockets, Dorm room, more seating and there is only one room out of ten without a window (our cheapest room) there is no need to order Breakfast in advance unless it's outside of hours which we will do our best to accommodate you and thank you for recognising how social the place is . Cheers Joe

The riad /hostel is perfectly located inside the medina. Upon arrival we meet the owner, joe, who shows us around. Joe is very good with us, very friendly and helpful. The cozy hostel has a lovely terrace with sitting areas, a little fridge with some pops, beers, wine, bought using the honor system. There is A cozy little movie room with a large selection of movies , a couple of love seats with views of the town.

Our room is a small double room with a small bathroom. There is a shower with good water pressure and hot water most of the time. Soap is provided and towels. Breakfast is provided from 8:30am-10:30am. It consisted of a fruit salad with yogurt, pastry, juice and coffee/tea. Wifi is good here and accessible in all areas.

I would definitely recommend staying here, the rooms, decor, and price are all great!

Our stay at Riad Baraka was one of the best of our 3 month trip so far. The place is perfectly located, just inside the medina, tucked away from the main hustle and bustle. Joe and his staff have put a lot of effort into the appearance of the riad with beautiful illustrations adorning the walls. The place is always spotlessly clean. The bathrooms and shower facilities are immaculate. Our room was small and cosy with a very comfortable bed (quite a relief after our rock-like bed in Tangier). The real treat here though is the amazing blue rooftop terrace. This is the perfect to place to unwind, chat with new friends and admire the stunning view of the town. We were unfortunate to visit during a kitchen renovation, and so breakfast was not available, yet there are plenty of cheap options in the main square area. Joe is great at recommending things to do and his restaurant picks are excellent. We would certainly return here if we are lucky enough to visit the amazing blue town of Chefchaouen in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are probably more quiet (we visited during ramadan and the morning drums were...

We booked the double ensuite via hostelbookers.com and sent email to re-confirm before the trip. but upon arrival, they said the room was occupied and changed to a double room share bathroom for us with a small discount. It's fine. the riad is well maintained, great roof area. though the shared toilet is very tiny. and hot shower only available before 10pm. Good location. Welcome staff. breakfast is not included (it often be included in Morocco's Riad/Dar).

I really liked this place. It's got a fantastic rooftop terrace with tiles and painted cement floors with bright cushions and alcoves. Really lovely place to read and eat. The owner is really funny, but it's a bitterly dry sense of humor and can be off putting at first. Once you warm up to him he's an absolute doll, though he'll probably cringe at that! The beds are firm but comfy and the whole riad is super clean. Lots of good reviews for a reason!
