The ORIGINAL Erg Chebbi auberge.
Owned and run by the same family and never closed for 30 years.
An awesome view of the dunes.
A super swimming pool is a real surprise.
Good food.
Attractive and individualistic accommodation.
I regard the staff as dear friends.
Attention is as attentive as you wish it to be.
Guests MUST remember and accept that they are in the desert; not a luxury hotel. They can only be given what is there to be given. And that will be freely given.

We did not intend to stay here more than one day. Kasbah is magical. Peace, quiet, simple people and the dunes in the yard, I could not ask for more. Camping in the desert, it was also memorable. Food and service was great.

We loved the location and the physical building. Very open, the pool was very nice. Food was average, but you are out in the desert. Our room was large and had a great view of the dunes. Our patio was also very nice. The air-conditioning comes at dark, our room did get significantly cooler than outside. We had breakfast by the pool, it was the usual Moroccan breakfast. We can't complain about our stay at all.

From here we started our impressing cameltour, guided by two real Berber men dressed in the authentic deep bleu chandorra. Barefoots in the sand they brought us to the camp where we slept one night, just under the stars (there were tents, but we wanted to enjoy the never ending glow in the dark ;-).
Getting back in the hotel the next morning it was wonderful to take a shower and wash all the sandcristals away, but the wonderful experiences will always stay!
Hospitable atmosphere, and even a swimming pool so close to the desert.

Absolutely unexpected place for me. We arrived there after long and tough day and when i saw relatively large swimming pool so I didn't hesitate to jump in.
First I was amazed by vestibule with reception.....it's big and spacy room decorated by all kinds of berber art and many colorful stuffs. The same was back room which was something like living room for everyone, there were various musical instruments, mainly drums, which you can borrow and try.
I liked that all hotel complex was fresh, clean, airy and open.
And the most amazing was that you made just one small step and you stood in the desert and looked at dunes.

I can just recommend and don't forget arrange the camel trip and romantic ones can spend the night under the saharan sky and enjoy breakfast at sunrise.

The original Erg Chebbi auberge.
Run by the same family since opening 30 years ago and not a day closed since then.
Copied by all the others but this is the original, developing over the years.
An unbelievable vista.
However guests must remember that they are in the desert, not a city and respond accordingly in their expectations.
A second home for me over many years; a place where I feel cherished as family.
