“Wonderful hospitality & beautiful hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

Driss and Ali couldn't have been more hospitable. We arrived unannounced during a very busy time (there was a rally based at the hotel & the Eid el Kabir holiday) but he still took time to make us feel welcome and spent time with us chatting and teaching us about Berber history, astrology and music. The rooms were massive and spotless, the hotel was peaceful and great value, nice pool. Beautiful natural surroundings. Truly a home away from home, and good friends made.

The hotel looks stunning and is very stylishly fitted out, but the quality of the food is poor. The hotel is full of flies which is very off putting at meal times, particularly at breakfast as the buffet table is swarming with flies and there are several cats wondering about. The lighting is very dim, making it difficult to read after dark. Good position in the desert.

I had a great opportunity to spent my birthday at the desert, and this guys made everything became more amazing. Besides the excellent structure this hotel have in the middle of the desert, the people who work there are always trying to make that experience even better.

When i think of the Nomad Palace i can't help thinking that i want to go back there. Now! For a longer period. It was such an amazing experience in the desert. Best of the best at Nomad Palace: the staff!! From the owner who would sit chatting with you on the lounge to the boys working at the desk or anywhere in the hotel who would always salute you and chat about something from your country, to the the camel drivers or any person you will meet there, what a great atmosphere! The most friendly people we met in Morocco, the always happy and always smiling desert people. All of them speak several languages and communication isn't ever an issue. I highly recommend spending a night at the desert tent, the berber dinner and music evening, the dromedary ride to and from the tents camp, the sunset and sunrise on the Sahara dunes....all those are priceless.
The location couldn't be any better, you are literally steps away from getting your feet into desert sand. Nice swimming pool and hang around areas.
On the downside the hotel itself could use a bit of renewing work, shower and tap in our bedroom didn't work very well, and we heard the same from some of the others. Breakfast was soso.
I highly recommend staying at the Nomad Palace!

On a side note, we got caught in a sandstorm there and having a turban was such a relief. There are many nice places to buy those in Merzouga, the real berber stuff, not like the ones you find in Marrakesh for example, and a lot cheaper.

we stayed at this hotel as part of our '5 day morocco' tour. we found it to be relaxing & friendly.
the owners & staff were great & we had our needs met. could def be a little cooler in the dinning room. we took our 'one nite in berber tent' in desert from & we loved it!

I agree with one of the other reviewers that said the biggest complaint was the dining and lounge room. We stayed here for 2 days as part of our tour. The first night we stayed at the hotel and the second night we stayed in the desert in the nomad tents. For the first night, our room was huge but the lighting was extremely poor. The wifi didn't work in our room - only in the lounge area. For the second night, the nomad tent is huge and we had 4 beds in our room. None of the beds were comfortable. There was a light switch in our room, which was nice (we brought flash lights in case there was no light), however the bathrooms were in complete darkness. Also, the bathrooms looked like they were outfitted to have water (there were actual toilets and two sinks), however the water did not work.

In the dining and lounge room, there were so many flies. It was uncomfortable to eat as we kept having to swat the flies away. The problem was apparent in the morning where there was a buffet breakfast of various pastries and breads (no fruit) and the flies were swarming the food. I want to point out that the fly problem was pretty common at restaurants in that area if you were eating outside.

Agree with other reviews that the staff was very friendly and helpful. Agree that the position of the hotel at the edge of the dunes is impressive but with a little care it could be so much better.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hotel Nomad Palace. The rooms were large and clean, the pool was beautifully refreshing. The dinner and breakfasts were varied and tasty. The hotel even had Wifi so our teenage children were very happy! But the best part of the hotel were the staff - they were so friendly and helpful and always smiling. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are planning to travel to this part of Morocco.
