“Idyllic - plan to stay more than one night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 December 2013

Terrasse des Delices is an enchanting little place on a rocky hillside overlooking the oasis and the community of just a couple hundred people. Aside from the million-dollar view, it has an immaculate swimming pool, delicious food, and a great view of the stars. The terrace has a long bench to enjoy tea and the great view of the sunset, and just when the air starts getting cold you notice that the back of the bench is heated!

The food here is quite good, and the Berber drum music at night was great entertainment. The musicians got our 8 year old son dancing, and then he wouldn't stop! After the music stopped, it was back out to the terrace to admire the stars.

The staff was wonderful, and saw to everything we needed. We greatly enjoyed our conversation with the owner on the terrace after breakfast.

The rooms here are more or less basic. They serve their purpose, and are not elaborate, but we didn't spend any time in the room other than to sleep.

During the morning take a walk along the oasis, knock a few dates off a date palm and enjoy them as you take in the calm, majestic landscape.

Do not let the drive to this place deter you! It is an unpaved road, and the signage could be a little better, but its well worth the (slight) effort to get here.

The Oasis at Fint was absolutely stunning. We were driven across a very barren landscape not far from Ouazarzate and dipped down into a verdant hidden valley lush with palms and small cultivated gardens fenced with brushwood. We forded the river and arrived at the Terraces de Delices and were met by the friendly owner. We went for an evening walk through the cultivated gardens down to the river. Back at the Auberge we were given a lovely meal by a roaring fire and then treated to some live Berber music even though we were the only people staying that night. Our room was basic but comfortable and clean with plenty of hot water to shower. In the morning we wandered to the older deserted village and down by the river where the women were busy communally washing clothes accompanied by the croaking of frogs. The arrival of electricity seven years ago does not seem to have made this place change too fast. We wanted to find a place off the beaten track with the feel of an oasis but without too much driving from Marrakech with a child susceptible to car sickness, and this certainly fulfilled all our expectations and more, it would have been good to stay longer.

The place is beautiful, though a bit too far from Ouarzazate through a piste, we had to cross a small river, which in the darkness seemed much deeper.
The service is ok, most of them speak English, only the old man speaks French only.
The room was quite small for the price we payed.
The food was very good.

The hotel is located down a long bumpy track and really is in the middle of nowhere which is perfect for a few days break. The people who work there all make you feel welcome and are very friendly. The rooms seem from another time - this isn't a slur- it's actually a really nice aspect. The lighting is dim and the rooms are decorated in a traditional Moroccan style. The bathroom was really modern. On the terrace there's a lovely pool to sit beside, relax and read (or obviously to swim in) but the views are spectacular. On the way in there are pomegranate trees and other fruit trees and you pass locals on donkeys and going about their daily lives. Breakfast was great.

Now for the bad stuff- We were trying to arrange to be dropped off in town in order to get a bus in a few days time. The man who worked there who was going to take us told us it would be 300dirham (about £27) - for a 20min drive. Problem is, once you're there, you're there, and you don't really have an alternative. Thankfully we changed our mind as we had a tour the next day and we decided to stay at another hotel in town on return from our trip.

Then it came to check out. I had my printout from booking.com with the price on it so I got my money ready with a bit extra for taxes. At checkout they tried to tell me that the price I had was only for one person- not the two of us. On my receipt it showed the TOTAL room price as £23. This discussion went on for a long time but I didn't pay the almost double they were asking for. I don't know why they assumed that I would possibly have booked the room for only 1 person when 2 of us were travelling together- the receipt confirmed all I needed it to. This conversation was very difficult due to a massive language barrier.

Anyway- this did put a negative twist on our stay, which is a shame.

very nice small hotel run by a generous and humble dfamily who built everything themselves. Beautiful view, simple rooms, great fresh food cooked by the family Have a look how they make thr bread, in the kitchen how they make the maroccan salad, in the valley how they harvast the dades with climing up the trees bar foot and have a walk through the valley and see the donkeys going past carrying the grass for the animals. We hace stayed here 3 days with 2 children age 9 and 13 and could have stayed here forever.

Oasis Fint is truly a gem if you want to get off the beaten track and get close to the locals. We stayed here for just one night on our way to Merzouga from Marrakech. It was very nice and we had had the best Moroccan mint tea of our trip here. The food was also good especially the breakfast with the homemade breads which was hard to beat. The rooms are as expected (comfortable) and they all had airconditioning. The road here though is unpaved so if you're not driving a 4WD, be prepared for rough gravel for a few km's but it will be worth it. The lush valley filled with palms amidst the harsh stony surroundings is really a sight to behold especially after a long days drive.

Terraces of Delight was indeed delightful, from its location within a lush, isolated oasis to the very friendly owners and staff attentive to our desire to explore. We were genuinely welcomed like family! They arranged guided walks through the oasis and its small oasis-dependent hillside villages. The owner was our guide and spoke excellent English. He also served as guide to the marketplace and film museum in nearby Quarzazate and to an ancient casbah in the High Atlas Mountains.

For those who like to do a bit of exploring on their own, the oasis is easy to explore, situated around a small, shallow river. There are abundant date palm, apricot, and pomegranate trees plus fragrant oleander and many small, irrigated plots for crops associated with the Berber villages. The surrounding small mountains/high hills provide enjoyable hikes with magnificent views.

Apart from the beautiful natural setting, the resort is structured with an open inner courtyard with flowering plants (roses, jasmine, bouganvilla, etc.), and most rooms open onto this space. Breakfasts were substantial and good, lunches can be arranged, and dinners were excellent, authentic Moroccan. Depending on weather conditions, meals are served on the open patio overlooking the oasis and hillside villages, in a covered space with the same marvelous views or within a large interior dining area with traditional décor. After dinner, staff gathered to play Berber rhythms on jembe drums. My nephew, a drummer, was invited to join and on the second night was provided with traditional head-dress and jalaba so he “fit right in” (sans white complexion). My niece was invited to join on guitar our final night.

Highly recommended for those who wish to “get-away-from-it-all” in a unique natural setting and experience an exotic culture in comfort.
