You gotta love it basic if you stay here. This is real. Best thing ... by far the best evening meal we had in 10 days... breakfast was great too. Worst.. the room we were in had no air conditioning and it was oh sooo hot. Best : I slept on the roof top deck... it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I actually had a brilliant sleep while waking to peak at the full moon every few hours. The service was very excellent. Be sure to explore the building.. it's much bigger than it seems.... and the library / museum... very cool.
I would have never chosen this place... it turned out to be one of our best experience nights.

We took SupraTour bus from Marrakech and arrived in Zagora close to midnight. Taxi arranged by Dar Raha was already waiting for us. With a short ride, we arrived at the House of Rest.

After a good night rest and breakfast, Antoine showed us around the house, which turned out to be much bigger than we expected. There are library, tea salon, terrace which over looks the town and palm grove, culture room, lots of space to chill, to read, to play. The bathrooms and toilets are a short distance away from the room, so the integrity of the original structure can be preserved. I didn't find that to be a problem at all.

Antoine gave us a talk on the history of the qsar and Zagora before taking us to the qsar and palm grove. He even invited us to his home on the way back. I felt that I was seeing the real Morocco for the very first time.

After lunch, camels where waiting on the door step to take us out for a afternoon/night in the desert. The scenery on the way was amazing. We watched the sunset, while our guides prepared dinner. As the night fell, tempterture dropped. We sat inside the Berber tent to enjoy a wonderful night of music, conversation and feast. It was truly an amazing experience.

Another 2-hour camel ride, we were back at Dar Raha for a needed shower and wonderful lunch. The lunch here is not the typical heavy Moroccan meat meal, but light & delicious vegetarian dishes - a big welcome after days of heavy meals in Marrakech. After lunch, Antoine took us to the Zagora Market, and showed us the sights in the area. His knowledge and passion of the area made the visit extra special.

Additional to the 3 days budget formula (which was great value), we took a day trip to Chigaga desert in a 4x4. As the journey goes on, we understood why it had to be a 4x4. We climbed up one of the big sand dune, and there are sand dunes as far as the eyes can see - breathe taking view, and not to be missed if you have already made it as far as Zagora.

We left Zagora on the 6am bus the next day. If we could have re-planned the trip, we would have made sure we have another day at Dar Raha, so we can have a day to rest from the desert trips and enjoy the place.

Dar Raha is more than a gues house, and the whole experience had been absolutely delightful.

Dar Raha – Zagora (Amezrou)

After a whole day long drive with a rental car out of Marrakech, we landed just before sunset in this beautiful Riad.
We had the opportunity to enjoy a great view on the roof terrace and were served a great relaxing dinner. The room was splendid and we enjoyed a good sleep;
All in all we only spend 1 night @ Dar Raha, the morning after we left for M’Hamid, but can only confirm all the positive reviews on the internet

Dar Raha is a beautiful Riad just outside Zagora with a great professional staff.

Our hosts were simply perfect, ready to help us out and available for any needs. The owner is a very available person whom chatting with about Marocco and the beauties of the Zagora's nearby. The room was large, silent, simple yet very confortable; services was large and very clean as well.
It might have been an hard job for the owner restoring this traditional house and offering to the guests such an hight level of confort at the same!
A magic place, really!

My husband and I had a fantastic stay at Dar Raha. It is a very unique property and we felt very welcome and comfortable. Antoine, the owner met us on arrival and gave us a nice tour of the property and told us a brief history/insight of the area. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the Dar in the open air courtyard with Antoine the owner who is a most interesting and fun guy..he really made our stay at Dar Raha memorable. The staff are lovely and very attentive and the wine list and food (breakfast and dinner) are very good. All homemade (food not wine!), very tasty and a nice variety. Certainly good value for money and a lovely location and a nice and friendly environment.

It's a little out of the way, but a great place to stay. It's very reasonable and it is like an oasis in the middle of the desert. Antoine is a wonderful host.
