Thank you so much for a lovely stay. Our hosts Ryan and Angela were wonderful, and they have built the most incredible place from scratch using the Eco friendly cob building technique. Beautiful garden of fruit trees at the base of a dormant volcano overlooking the sea. Plenty to do in the area, could have easily filled 5 days. We still reminisce about this place.
Also the food was so good as well, love the pancake breakfast.

I really enjoyed our stay at finca mystica! There are a lot of activities in the area (kayakking, horse back riding, several hikes, swimming in the lake, ...) and the very friendly owners are always present to give advice. The food is so good, i loved the desayuno's, the quesadillas, the burrito's and the pizza! I slept 2 nights in the dorm (with double beds and good matrasses!) and 2 nights in a cabana. The dorm is very spacious and cosy, the showers are spacious too. And there is the lovely garden to explore, with magnificent views! There is a one mile trail at the finca, and i saw a lot of monkeys.
I couldn't imagine a better place to stay at Ometepe!

Finca Mystica was truly a paradise. There was only one other couple while we were staying there, and the whole place was magical. Between the dozens of fruit trees and plants across the property, the walk through the woods with Howler monkeys above us, and the beautiful sunset over the water with the volcano behind us, I could not have imagined a more picturesque spot. You can go hiking, swimming, horseback riding, or lie in the hammocks and read with a delicious fruit smoothie. This place is well worth the trek across the island, and the hosts are incredibly gracious, friendly, and helpful!

We stayed at Finca Mystica for three nights and that was a major highlight of our two weeks in Nicaragua. Comfortable cabin with great views, fantastic food, loved the fact that it was off the beaten track - literally! In fact we were about 10 miles from a beaten track!
We might have moaned once about the howler monkeys waking us up at 4:30am but I'd give anything for that now I'm back in England.
Ryan and Angela have created a fantastic place with a great informal atmosphere - we could have stayed much longer and not run out of things to do, or not to do if you just simply want to relax.

My sister and I brought our daughters to the Island (hers being itty bitty, 2 months and mine 16 yrs). We could not have expected what we were met with. Ryan and Angela welcomed us as if we were visitors in their home. The place is magical and you don't even have to leave the property; cabanas were very comfortable; food was incredible; and the ability to just sit around, read, look at the beauty around you was heavenly for all of us.
Ryan has planted lots of edibles and each are sweetly labeled around the property.
Howler Monkeys come down to the property each afternoon, making their way through the fruit trees, occasionally stopping to stare at us, staring at them.
We collectively decided this was the place we would return to each year!!

Thank you Ryan, Angela, Jaxe and the incredible staff for an unforgettable time at your sweet Finca Mystica!!!

PS - the trek up from the ferry, really isn't that bad at all, contrary to what others may say. Tip: let Ryan and Angela set up the car to come get you; they'll send something that can handle the rocky/bumpy terrain. If you've traveled the back roads of any other Central American country - you won't be phased in the least - for all others, its totally worth the bumpy ride!!!

During a 4 month trek through Central America, I spent 6 nights at Finca Mystica, and everything about my experience there was wonderful. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful; the casita was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious!

OK… If you have decided that Ometepe is a place you want to visit and that Finca Mystica might be a unique experience, I will assume that you have an adventurous spirit. If this is the case, you will not be disappointed. Yes, it is a long and adventurous journey to reach Finca Mystica. In some places, the road might be more easily walked than traversed by automobile. It is ROUGH! Take some video of the ride to enjoy later! The website and online reviews give you a good idea of the rustic elements that you will be able to enjoy. On the ferry ride to the island we met some people with a four-wheel drive who were going to that remote end of Ometepe, so we caught a ride. For the return trip, the folks at Finca Mystica arranged for a van to pick up several of us, which saved on cost. Our first evening, we bought a few large beers from Finca Mystica and then hiked down to the local beach and swam in the lake. The monkeys and wildlife were part of the experience. For our stay, we decided to drink beer in the water at sunset every day. The food was really good, as was the service. Our room and beds were comfortable and the mosquito netting worked very well. I was very pleased to see that the folks at Finca Mystica are well invested in their community. The locals who work there take great pride in their work, their community, and they very much enjoy the visitors to Finca Mystica. We did the waterfall hike one day and recommend this, highly. Keep in mind, you should be reasonably fit and take water and food. Another day, we went into the little town and rented kayaks to tour the river. We had a local guide go with us, but he was very flexible in allowing us to venture out on our own a bit. We definitely saw some Caiman up VERY close! When we got back, we had a few beers on the beach and then walked back through town around dark. We found a small little restaurant and let them suggest our dinner. It was a great experience. Make sure you bring flashlights! The folks at Finca Mystica will make certain that your adventurous spirit is well-rewarded!
