I stayed there for 2 nights. I was charmed by the intimacy and cosiness of the place in the middle of VI. Swimming pool, garden, arts, good breakfast, very good restaurants and pizzas. The prices were however on the steep side. In general worth the money.

I really enjoyed staying here. It´s a perfect place to relax in the city of Lagos. Well located on VI, with a nice terrace and swimming pool. Wonderful pizza´s. I enjoyed having all my meetings outside. The room was very clean, good AC, not too much noise from the generator. Very friendly staff.

I visited this hotel 10 days ago and have been there for one week. I was satisfied at all, especially if we consider conditions in Lagos. Service is quite good, personnel very polite, rooms always clean. The most important thing the hotel is safe.

Facilities are always available, such as very good swimming pool, billiard, ad probably massage, even I didn't have opportunity to use it all the time. Maybe, it is more expensive than I expected for a Nigerian hotel, but it worth. I recommend it.

Further to a recent unpleasant experience at one of your members’ hotels - Manuela Residence, Victoria Island, Lagos (27.11.2008);

Having booked in for two nights and paid in advance (always a mistake), I found the room comfortable, surroundings pleasant and staff friendly; unfortunately during the night there was the incessant noise from a generator.

Upon complaining to the night staff, they assured me that they would register the complaint, but no other rooms were available. The following morning when I took this up with the Reception Staff, they were less than helpful - no alternative rooms could (would) be offered; the only offer the hotel came up with was a change of room to a DeLuxe room - however a surcharge would apply, so no mention of recompense for my lost nights’ sleep!

At Manuela Residence the staff & management clearly do not understand the service industry, I had a genuine complaint and although they claimed there was nothing they could do - there simply was not the will to do anything. I realise that in Lagos there is a shortage of reasonable quality accomodation at a reasonable price and until there are some more players in the market to increase competition and thereby raise standards, the innocent traveller will have to put up with such poor attitudes and mediocre hotels.

I appreciate that the generator in question is located in an adjacent hotel, but that should not be the concern of the guest, Manuela Residence need to take this up with their neighbour.

Unfortunately not everybody who visits Lagos is involved in the deep-pocketed oil & gas industry, many other business people arrive from more meagre sectors in the hope of doing some business and thereby assisting in the economic development of the country; in fact the relatively small company which I represent has recently offered full-time employment to a local Lagosian technician; this is where we prefer to invest our money.

I look forward, but am not holding my breath, to the day when there is healthy competition amongst the hotels of Lagos whereby international standards and behaviour is achieved - as opposed to simply charging international prices and having a laissez-faire attitude.
