Whispering Palms Resort
Ranked #53 of 138 Hotels in Lagos
Reviewed 9 October 2011

This place is a resort, and you must choose this only for a short vacation. The rooms have all the basic aminities like hot water, air conditioning, mini bar. The attitude of most of the staff was great and they were very helpful. The only negative part is the food. The choices are limited, and whatever is available in local cuisine is pretty expensive. Bigger the group visiting, the better, as the entertainment available is basic sports. There is also boating and a ride on a speed boat available.

Room Tip: Choose a room near the restaurants - service will be better :)

Only thing bad about this place is the approach road from main highway , in case it is raining heavily you may get stranded , once you enter the gate you feel safe well guarded , rooms are clean , ac works well , you can spend hours in the lagoon drinking beer and fishing , good DG back up power and there are other amenities too which i have not used . Food of course i could not enjoy being an Indian others may enjoy fish recipies , i tried fried egg with vegitable stew worked well with rice .

it is convinient for those who are visiting agbara industrial estate not lagos main city

Dear sk_sengupta, thank you for visiting Whispering Palms. It is very unfortunate the road experience was hampered by the ongoing construction of the Badagry Expressway. We hope this will improve once the construction works are completed. We appreciate your patronage and feedback.

Best regards.

Spend a long weekend at Whispering Palms recently to get away from the madness that is Lagos. Trying to get there on a Friday afternoon was one huge mistake as the Lagos-Badagry road was one large car park, making the journey last over 6 hours (the way back took 2). Making the reservation was not that easy, even though they have a reservation facility on the website. Seems no one ever checks that and in order to book one has to go to an office in Surulere/Lagos and pay. At NGN 20,000 per night it wasn't bad value either.

Once arrived it was quite a nice place. Stayed in the Swimmingpool block which was reasonably new and functional. The room had split level AC, fridge, shower and TV. Everything worked in the room so that was fine. The place itself is a largish resort on the Badagry river. Swimming pool, little boats and all sorts of other little activities, most in a decent state of repair. They have a little “Zoo” with monkies which I found terrible. Definitely not your modern idea of keeping animals.
There are a few different places to eat, with the usual suya, grilled fish and chicken. Most was pretty ok and reasonably priced. Sitting by the river, sipping a drink and watching the sun set, it definitely made one relax.
The place was very empty when I visited so there was no problem with the facilities. If full I would imagine the pool in particular to be very packed.
Staff were friendly and quite attentive and I left feeling somewhat replenished. For some reason I had expected the place to be at the beach which was not the case. All in all a good weekend, but definitely not a trip to be taken Friday afternoon ever again.
