We visited Whispering Palms in early January. We went because I really wanted to visit Badagry and see the heritage museum and point of no return and the resort seemed to be the only "nice" accommodation nearby.
We stayed in the marina villas, which were large, basic rooms with a lot of space. It was a bit of a walk from the main area, but not too far.
I loved the resort and the layout. It was beautiful with a lot of history and culture. The vibe was very serene and chilled out and it was a great getaway from Lagos.
Even though I had a great time and enjoyed my stay, I had two major issues.
1) The pool water was dark green which means it wasn't sanitizing properly and needed to be shocked. This was unfortunate because I really wanted to spend time in the pool.
2) My partner and I got extremely sick after eating food from the grill, lagoon side. While my partner healed completely within about 12 hours, it took me over 2 days and the help of antibiotics. This really dampened my experience because it prevented me from enjoying some activities that I was really looking forward to.
Other than those two issues, I'd definitely visit again. More
