Although there are some problems, as noted by other reviewers (windows only out to atrium, and therefore not enough ventilation) I have to say that for hot water and water pressure, this was the best shower I had in 18 days in Peru. The rooms were clean, and the noise that kept me awake was from a birthday party in the building next door, not the hotel's fault.

Also, the tour company screwed up some of out tickets, and the manager/owner (I think his name was Claudio), was the problem-solver who saved the day for us. We had no return tickets from Aguas to Poroy and the person who did the briefing knew nothing. Claudio was the one who suggested that the agency could fax the ticket to his restaurant, and he would have the ticket and our luggage at the restaurant by 1p.m. the next day. And after phoning the agency in Cusco for us, he arranged it all.
Thanks!!!

Not a great hotel. We went as part of a motorcycle group. Not sure what the other rooms were like, but ours was the first one as you came in through the broken glass door. Nothing here.. no phone, no internet, no TV.. just the hole in the bathroom that lead out onto the reception. The breakfast in the morning was bread and jam.. if you don't expect much, you shouldn't be dissappointed.

We just returned from Peru and stayed 2 nights at this inn. The decor is pretty, but there are too many structural problems for me to recommend that anyone stay there. The bathroom has a large, jacuzzi tub with plenty of hot water but the problem is when you take a shower, the water splashes onto the bathtub rim and floods the bathroom. We tried repositioning the shower head- it didn't help. Our room had no ventilation (the only window faces the lobby) so it became damp and musky smelling. After our first night, we asked for another room explaining the problem and were promptly accommodated. The second room had a window that opened to the street plus a window that opened in the bathroom. There was no jacuzzi tub- just a small little bathroom with a shower. While this room was not as pretty, at least we didn't have the dampness or smell to deal with and we were much more comfortable. I feel badly writing this review as the staff couldn't have been nicer and it is obvious they paid a lot of attention to the aesthetic design but I cannot recommend this place.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a GAP Adventures tour for one night.

Nice decor and comfortable beds, however my room looked out on to the hallway so had no daylight and the room had a very musty smell - so much so that even after leaving my clothes had to be washed to remove the smell.

I also agree with the previous review that security was lacking - take your key with you when going out and don't leave it at reception as it would be very easy for someone to walk in and remove the key from the reception desk while no one was there.

For one night the hotel was fine but if you're staying any longer and I'd suggest finding somewhere else.

The Pacha Mama Inn just opened this year, which probably explains why the prices are still reasonable. It is located just inside the more residential district of Aguas Calientes, a 5 min walk from the train station or main street. The rooms would look at home in a major industrialized city: very clean, modern, and tasteful. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, and each room has a deluxe bathroom with a jacuzzi tub (unfortunately we couldn't get ours to work...) Breakfast was the standard light Peruvian fare, bread with cheese and jam. The staff were friendly, and although their English wasn't the best we managed to communicate just fine. The rooms all have windows onto the hallways or "courtyard" area (a central atrium that extends upward from the reception area upwards to the lounge/ breakfast room), so while you don't get the street noise, you do hear sounds of people in the hallways (and they can hear you too!).

The only concern I have is security. The front door is not on a buzzer system, so anyone could just walk in. There is usually an employee nearby, though, or else looking over the railing from the upper floors when they hear the door. Hopefully as the place gets busier, they will station a full-time receptionist at the front desk to keep an eye on things.
