Stayed here for two nights. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was a bit of a hike each day to get up to the hotel, but it was close to the main square and a lot of good restaurants. Wifi was available and good as well.

Stayed here for one night. We had a room with 2 double beds (junior suite-which meant we got a small sitting area). Pictures online definitely make it look nicer than it is.

Our bathroom was very dated. No hot water handle for sink; cold was only option at the sink. Our toilet got clogged and when I called down, they asked if we put toilet paper in it. Yes, we did, as there was no sign stating not to. This is common in restaurants etc. in and around Peru, but in my opinion, not acceptable for your hotel room. One bathroom wall had glass louvers for ventilation. A couple louvers were missing, and you could see in between the buildings to where wires were hanging.

I agree that the locks on the doors are joke. (A push button like you would have on a door at your house.) Room doors open to a center foyer area with staircase, thus sounds get amplified off the tile floors. Construction right across from what would be a nice balcony to sit on hampers any view. Breakfast was fresh, but just average compared to other hotels we had in Peru. Music could be heard from street below (3rd floor room) until 2 AM. Wifi didn't work. Keep your expectations low or splurge for a different place to stay. I would splurge next time.

Pros: TV with many English channel options; plug in radiator heater; mini fridge; fresh breakfast

Our company took a trip to Machu Picchu at the end of May. Most of us stayed in the twin room, which was a little noisy since the walls are very thin, but it was reasonably priced and the beds were comfortable. Checking in was easy and the staff were helpful throughout our stay. This hotel is in a great location, it’s within walking distance of the bus and train station.

We stayed here for one night, the night before getting up at 4am to go to Machu Picchu. Because everyone in Aguas Calientes is also going to Machu Picchu, the hotel prices are off the charts. We paid the most of all our hotel stays in Peru at this place. The room itself was big and spacious. The bathroom was a little small, dark, and the dark red tiles didn't help any. The water was hot but that was about all that was good. The locks for each door looked like it could easily be picked with a bobby pin though.

The morning breakfast buffet was ample and plentiful for loading up energy for a full day at Machu Picchu. If the options were stay here again or get up earlier to take a train ride up to here and then the bus up to MP, I would stay here again. Just wish it was a little cheaper.

They did have a cool service where when you check out, you can leave your bags with them and they would bring it to the train station for you later that afternoon when you are taking the train back to Olly or Cusco. That saves you a trip hoofing it uphill back to the hotel to get your bags after hiking around MP all day.

We just wanted a clean hotel to spend the night in Aguas Calientes. It was basically that. Nothing fancy and generally acceptable. All accommodations in Aguas Calientes are overpriced and this is no exception. It's all the way at the top of the hill so it's kinda a hike. One thing I did not like is there is almost no sound insulation, so street and lobby noise was an issue for us.

There is a clear trade off in Aguas Calientes of staying at the bottom of the hill by the train station (noisy) or all the way at the top of the hill (here), where it is more quiet. We were happy to be where we were, but it is a hike each time you come up here. The staff were polite here. We only stayed about 6 hours here so it was what we needed functionally. The room was clean, but somewhat exposed to the outdoors - more like a lodge. While the doors lock, it doesn't feel super secure. That said, we didn't feel unsafe during our stay - it just means we wouldn't have wanted a bunch of valuables left in the room there. It was a fine place to stay for one night in between what the hostels probably are and a really expensive hotel in Machu Picchu.

During our 12 day trip in Peru, we stayed in hotels and private apartments. The facilities at Hotel La Cabana were very nice. The beds were comfortable and the shower had hot water all day (that is a rare thing in some of the smaller towns and places in Peru). Our plan to stay in Aguas Calientes the night before our visit to Machu Picchu worked out well as we were able to see the sun rise over M.P.

The drawbacks to the hotel. It is located quite a distance from the train station UPHILL! The staff was very prompt in meeting us at the train station, but once we left the train station, they walked very quickly and did not check to see that the entire group was walkking with them. We had older travellers with us, and the altitude was affecting some in our group, but the staff did not wait. Eventually, I had to have everyone wait on a bench so that I could keep up with the staff. I returned to collect my friends once I knew the location of the hotel. Once we arrived, we were abruptly and curtly told to wait in the lobby to be checked in. It seemed very much like a military operation, not a welcome to the hotel. The staff was average, not overly friendly or welcoming. Fortunately, we only stayed one night. Most hotels in Aguas Calientes are on the expensive side - Hotel La Cabana was priced reasonably.

Room Tip: Be aware that this hotel is uphill from the train station. The bathrooms are functional but very sm...
