“Clean, Convenient, and Comfortable!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2013

The entire staff at Sumaq was incredibly accomodating from the time they picked us up from the train station to the point they had our bags delivered back to the station for our return train. They also helped arrange our trips to Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu and set us up with a great guide. The food at the hotel was delectable - we had a breakfast buffet included as well as dinner every night. It was a good array of Peruvian dishes and typical American food. All in all, we felt very taken care of and had a wonderful stay! Thank you!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front have a beautiful view of Machu Picchu and the soothing sounds of the river.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your preference in Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel.

And thank you for considering SUMAQ with your 4 points.

As you mentioned, we attend to our guest with their luggage from the train station to the hotel and viceversa. Then when they arrive at Sumaq, we give them a welcome drink with delicious snacks.

Ecological excursions are also part of our vivential activities and we try to select
the best guides for our guest´s experience.

Glad to know that you did enjoy our breakfast and foods. As you have noticed, our breakfast buffet is variety and exquisite. And meals are prepared with dedication.

Do look forward to hosting you again.

Respectfully,

This is a great place to stay at. But the room we had had a train running through at 4am. The spa and massage service was great. Dinner has good presentation. But not the best tastes we have had in Peru. Breakfast was great though. Overall pretty comfortable. Love their service transporting your luggages to and from the train station.

Stayed for 2 days in November with my husband for a visit to Machu Picchu. The location (at the end of town and in front of a roaring river) was great. The service was exceptional from booking to checkout. Pre-arrangements for the WP hiking permit , bus tickets (and seat holding!), and MP admission were flawless; the personal greeting at the train and accompanying walk to the hotel was over-the-top nice; the food and dining room service were outstanding; the room was comfortable, clean and full of extra amenities. All in all, the SUMAQ almost seemed out of place in the little town Aguas Calientes for it's unexpected luxury and service. It was a very good value for all that was included.

Dear Madam

Thank you so much for kindly comment and your high appreciation!

As you say, the location of Sumaq is privileged because it is at the foot of the Machu Picchu Mountain and has a beautiful view of Vilcanota River.

Sumaq is a Peruvian family hotel and it has been design with the purpose to bring a cultural atmosphere where our guest can feel the Andean culture inside or outside of the hotel.

We look forward to hosting you in the next future.

Warm regards,
E- Commerce Sumaq

Off to the side and away from the construction going on with the rest of the city, the hotel is probably one of the quietest in Aguas Calientes. The hotel is more expensive than the rest, but the clean rooms, the welcoming juice (pineapple?) and wet towel, the afternoon tea, the pisco sour happy hour, the three-course dinner, and the breakfast buffet (all complimentary!) more than makes up for it. The breakfast buffet is amazing. There is also a great spa on premise. The only downside is the insistence of paying tips in cash when using their spa services instead of letting us include it on our credit cards. We were low on cash after the day trips and would have been more convenient to put everything on our cards than scrambling for an ATM.

We were so glad to arrive at the hotel. We had hiked from K104 up to the Sun-gate and then down to Machu Pichu and then taken the bus down the hill, so we had all had quite a busy day. We had a good welcome with a drink a snack and flannels to wipe our hands. Our room was at the front and yes the noise from the river is very loud but after our full day walking and then a meal with drinks neither of us were disturbed by the constant roar, in fact for me it provided a pleasant backdrop. The hotel warmed us about mosquitos and in fact supplied a plug in deterrent but we had no problems. Not being up to venturing out in the evening we ate in the hotel and the 4 of us enjoyed our meal, the menu was fairly extensive and the food well presented. This being our first day in nearly 2 weeks that we were at a lower altitude we hit the pisco sours, beer and wine, perhaps that helped us sleep! Breakfast the next day was very good. The only downside for me was that the room was on the small side compared to those in other hotels we had in Peru.

Room Tip: Don't be put off by the river, a great view.

What a wonderful Hotel, The rooms were lovely and you can hear the river run all night long if you have a river facing room. The rooms were excellent and had everything you need. I had three different meaks at the restraubt abd the food and choices were awesome.

The only complaint I have is that the restaurant should be able to have water more available and it would be nice to get more of it without having to pay for it.

I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who needs to stay at Machu Pichu.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side of Hotel are quit. No fitness center no pool. Easy to get to and would be my...

What a wonderful experience, from the staff to the tour guide which lead us around Machu Pichu for 4 hours. Our tour guide had his B.S. in history of the Inca people, what a wonderful day full of history and beauty. We stayed one night in a beautiful suite, and then the hotel arranged for us to get tickets to hike the STAIRS OF DEATH or Wana Pichu, what a beautiful hike, we worried about nothing because the hotel staff was very attentive and wonderful. Spend the money and stay at the best place in town... a romantic beautiful place...
