“Best $30 we spent in Peru”
Reviewed 15 January 2008

This was the nicest budget accomodation that we stayed in. The room was immaculate. The bathroom was modern, clean, and had the best hot water and water pressure. The windows overlooked the river so it was loud in a natural soothing way. The hotel is located away from traffic, trains, and pollution, but a five minute walk down the hill to the main square. The only downside is that the juice served with breakfast was questionable- my husband drank it, but I did not; he got a little sick, but I did not.... And they store bags and have a little bathroom where you can cleanup before getting on the train back to Cusco/Sacred Valley. Overall, I recommend that you stay there. We paid $30/night, but I suspect we could have talked them down as it was the low season and not all rooms were filled.

This is a great option for a stay before going to Machu Picchu. It's a good midrange place to stay, with clean rooms, reliable hot water, and nice staff. The staff greeted us at the train station with a sign with our names on it. The rates were good, and there's an additional 10% discount with a South American Explorers membership. Breakfast is available starting at 5am for people who want to catch the first bus to Machu Picchu. Breakfast consisted of fresh juice, tea, bread with butter and jam, and bananas. The location is good, midway up the main street. I would definitely recommend this place!

This is a good budget option in Aguas Calientes. Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the plaza (which is good because it is quieter), and a 5 minute walk to the buses to Machu Picchu. Room was clean with a good hot shower and nice firm full size bed. Upper rooms on the river side have a great view of the river, mountains, & town. Breakfast was nothing special (typical of Peru): bread, jam, juice, & bananas, but staff was very helpful & friendly. If staying here, it would be beneficial to know basic Spanish as most of the employees do not speak English.
