“Excellent Swiss - run hotel”
Reviewed 8 September 2009

We used this hotel at the beginning and end of the Cordillera Huayhuash trek. The rooms and the hotel generally were immaculate and the staff very helpful. Lots of hot water, an essential at the end of a hard trek. Food quite expensive compared with local restaurants (but not by UK standards) but excellent quality and variety, particularly the buffet breakfast.
About 15 minutes walk from Huaraz centre.

Swiss run Andino Club, 10 minutes walk from Plaza de Armas, offers modern and comfortable rooms, the upper floors with a great overlooking the city and view into the snowcapped mountains, and a good restaurant oriented on Swiss and German dishes (e.g. "Sauerbraten").
The manager, also Swiss, perfect English and German, is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

I stayed here with a group from Adventure Travel while adjusting to the altitude. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the rooms were spotless with a beautiful view of the town and mountains. The breakfast buffet was the best of any I have seen in all of my world travels and that is saying alot. This is THE BEST in Huaraz.Peru. Highly Recommend.

The Andino hotel is very clean and the people who work there are very nice. Some of the employees speak some english.

The breakfast is included and its enormous. There are eggs, ham, cereal, yogurt drinks, fruit, toast, coffee, etc. Its a big breakfast and the coffee is good.

The hotel sells topographic maps of the region, as well as postcards, and can arrange to mail postcards for you.

The rooms have plenty of hot water and the electricity was reliable. We didn't experience a power outage during our stay. There is also cable television with the BBC, so one can catch up on international news.

The views of the Cordillera Blanca from the hotel are fantastic. There is a nice garden area with blooming flowers. I felt very safe and welcome during my stay there.

Huaraz is at a pretty high altitude, and the hotel is located up a steep hill from the town, but the taxis were cheap. Only 2 soles from the Plaza de Armas to the hotel.
