“Very relaxing and comfortable.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

We stayed here after our 3 day trek, so really appreciated the bath and lots of hot water. Our room was very comfortable and opened onto a terrace where we sat with a drink, watched the sun go down over the snow topped mountains and listened to the sounds of Huaraz. We dined in this hotel before and after our trek, the food is basic but good and a good price.

The hotel looks beautiful with many authentic pieces in the common areas and is kept very clean in both the common areas and the rooms. The staff are really helpful and friendly and were happy to mark the nearest laundry on our map (Liz's Laundry) for our smelly trekking gear. This was a lovely end to our stay in Huaraz.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with access to the terrace or with a balcony so you can make the most of the views.

I stayed for 3 nights in November. The hotel was very quiet at the time so my stay was probably not representative of what it can be like most of the time, The location not in the centre but is within easy walking distance, taking about 10-15 minutes. From the outside you can pretty much see only the high surrounding wall and the gate to get in. Once inside, there are lovely gardens with places to sit where you can see hummingbirds buzzing around the trees. Inside there is a nice lobby with comfy chairs, a tv and a small library. The reception staff were friendly and helpful although English was somewhat limited.
I was at first given a standard room on the second floor facing the side. It was a reasonable size and very clean, but quite dark and also fairly cold. After the bus journey from Lima I fancied something a bit nicer so asked to be upgraded to a higher room with a mountain view. The one I got was on the third floor and was much brighter and warmer, with 2 windows facing the central garden and double doors opening onto a small balcony at the front. This had brilliant views over the Cordillera Blanca and was without doubt worth the upgrade. The bathroom was nice and clean with a good shower. Sleep was a bit disturbed one night due to dogs barking in the streets around the hotel, however, there isn't much you can do about that as there seems to be dogs everywhere in Peru!
Each floor has its own lobby area with chairs and there are plenty of interesting pictures and stuff to have a look at.
Breakfast was always good and the one evening meal I had was excellent .
I would recommend this hotel as a good base to stay when in Huaraz, but it would have liked to have been here when it was a bit busier.

Room Tip: Definitely a room with mountain views.

San Sebastian was near our guesthouse in Huaraz and we've been there at least three times to have dinner. The restaurant was really good, great food with average prices for touristic places. We've tried soups, meat, pasta, almost everything! And it was consistently good, good portions, tasty. Service is a bit slow, sometimes slower than others, but they do have free wifi and the atmosphere is nice, so it wasn't a pain to wait for delicious food.
Also, staff is sweet. The hotel seemed very nice also. We can't recommend it, but we surely can recommend the restaurant!

The staff are friendly, the food is good, the rooms are clean and functional with great showers. The laundry turn around is quick and their wifi is good. Best of all they are adventure traveler friendly. There is always the offer of coca tea when you get back from your trip, they don't frown on your muddy trekking boots and they demonstrated great flexibility in accommodating our coming and going from the mountain. It's a short walk from restaurants and shops so the location is brilliant. On top of that is great value for money. I'd come back in a heart beat.

The hotel is nice and beautiful and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff service was excellent and they were friendly as well.Food was good too.I really like this hotel, food and service although is a bit pricey for Peru but it's a good place to stay if you don't mind paying.I'm considering taking a trip to Huaraz soon and definitely staying in this place again.

Room Tip: try getting a mountain view room to enjoy the scenery.

We stayed here before and after our walking trek. The hotel was very clean and the bed was comfortable but it isn't cheap and you had to pay for absolutely everything. We had our tour company pick us up from the bus station as the other reviews say here won't turn up to collect you. They had an old computer but you had to pay to use that. we had an early start one morning so asked about breakfast. You had to pay to get a cheese roll and a coffee brought up to the room the night before. After saying we would let them know if we wanted it (we decided to buy stuff in town) it still arrived that night with the chef waking us up to deliver it. There is building work going on either side of the hotel so don't expect a mountain view soon. We had a super deluxe room and all the hostels we have stayed in over the last 3 months of travelling in Peru have had bigger rooms. There also seemed to be some all night party venue near the hotel and that kept us awake 2nights out of 3 on our return from the walk.
The breakfast was very good but the restaurant at night was very slow. One night we ate there there was about 25minutes between us both getting our meals, even though there was only one other couple eating there.
That said it was ok but I expected more as it is so far up the price range for huarez and I wouldn't stay here again

neat, clean hotel close to centre of Huaraz. A good base before you set off to the mountains and when you are back and need a shower, clean bed a hot meal and a cold beer. Friendly staff. Try the coca tea especially if you are suffering from altitude sickness.

Room Tip: ask for room looking onto the street
