We had lunch here on our first day in Saint-Louis and despite the flies, we returned the next day for dinner. Proximity to our hotel was a factor in choosing this restaurant - twice. Lunch the first day was pretty simple. We weren't very daring and went with pizza/pasta and yassa. We enjoyed watching the activity on the river and the Faidherbe bridge, and as pleasant as it was to sit on the water and eat, the flies drove us away. We had to cover our glasses and bottles to keep the flies out. Our server was polite and efficient in spite of having a table next to us with 8 customers and another with 10!
We returned for dinner the next night seeking an evening view of the water and bridge as well as reliable food within walking distance of our hotel. This time no flies. We had a different server and again he was efficient. We enjoyed yassa and thiebou jen, both of which were very good.
Keep your expectations realistic and you won't be disappointed. We enjoyed the Flamingo for it's location, views, and good basic food.
