Milena Fanfani Complex
Reviewed 15 August 2014

We travelled with our teenage daughter. We had a double room on the second floor and she had a room on the first. The rooms were a good size, with TV and a fridge. However, the bed had a couple of loose springs which made it less comfortable, and our daughter's room had a couple of loose power sockets which we told her not to use. The air conditioning in her room broke down on the first night - we were impressed that they got it fixed the next day.

Food was plentiful and varied, with something for every taste. Sometimes things ran out, but were usually replaced after a short wait. It was odd that sometimes there were not enough glasses or crockery - perhaps they could invest in more.

The hotel is sited right by the beach. This is stony, and shelves very steeply, so is good for confident swimmers but less so for others. Swimming shoes are recommended.

There are many interesting places reachable by bus or boat.

We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the hotel.

Montenegro is a must. Đenovići is a great destination as it is unspoilt, but with easy access to Kotor, Herceg Novi & Budva. Milena Fanfani Complex was a great place to stay, with good food, amazing views and great staff.

This is a cross between a standard hotel and grouped chalets around the central reception area which I found to be easy to follow and get to grips with.
The location is excellent but then again, any hotel this close to the waters edge wins in my book! Okay, so you do have to walk across to the other side of the road (less than 10m?) before you can jump right in.
The staff were really friendly and the "feeling" I got was definitly leaning more towards the homestay rather than you would find at a "chain hotel" which for me was another plus.
The food in the restuarant was excellent and can recommend the steaks whether beef or lamb (I had one of each over two nights!-)
Enjoy.

I had a very enjoyable stay here on an organised group holiday with Oak Hall. The food was really stunning, with a local fish option most nights and a comprehensive breakfast buffet. Staff are friendly and speak some English. Rooms are clean, if set correctly the air conditioning is reasonably quiet and effective. Some basic maintenance is needed, I had to sort the basin waste pipe out in our room so the basin didn't empty on to the floor, also missing light bulbs. Outside bar area is really nice with fish pool (for restaurant). Adjacent beach rather stony, but calm water for swimming (shelves steeply), water polo court and sunloungers. Shops 1 minute's walk away with very reasonable prices - 40c for an ice cream! In June there were relatively few tourists and things were just awakening for the summer.

There are lots of interesting boat trips from Ðenovići, e.g. to Perast (small historic town on lake), Kotor, Herceg Novi, or for the more eccentric the derelict fort island (Mamula) and derelict submarine pens opposite Ðenovići! For confident swimmers, you can arrange to swim off of a boat, including in the Blue Cave (into which the boat squeezes past the rocks!). Land travel out of Ðenovići isn't the easiest, there are buses on the nearby main road at the top of the hill, but there doesn't seem to be a printed timetable and by the time you've seen the number propped up in the bus window, it's too late! If not in an organised group, a hire care would be a good option. Location is handy for Tivat airport via the car ferry across the estuary. Dubrovnik (Croatia) is also worth a visit.

We have just come back from a week in Djenovic and have had the pleasure of enjoying the local lamb. The lamb have to be order one day in advance, and than it is prepard in the stove in an ironpod under ash.
We had the lamb served on the pier and could at the same time enjoy the beatiuful surrounding of Kotor bay.
The staff and the family Fanfani are always nice and friendly and gives us a feeling of being welcomed.

In August we will be back with friends that once more is staying in the Complex Fanfanis bungalows, as they love the short distance to the sea and the peace in the evening on the terraces.

We visited as a couple as part of a tour group and enjoyed our stay. The complex consists of hotel rooms and "bungalows" (basically chalets without kitchens). There is also a restaurant and bar with live music area.
The hotel owns a section of beach which is one of it's best features. The beach is stony and slopes off quickly as is typical of all the beaches in the area. This allows for some brilliant snorkeling - take a snorkel, mask and water shoes to make the most of it. Hotel guests have loungers and sun umbrellas reserved for them.
We stayed for half board meals with the tour group and ate at lunch time in the hotel's restaurant. The food was mainly local dishes with options to cater to most tastes. We enjoyed goulash and djegos ham in particular. Drink prices are not extortionate. Breakfast was self service catering to most tastes. Amongst the more unusual items we enjoyed were pizza and a giant bready sort of croissant. Worth noting is that vegetarian diets are not particularly well catered for across Montenegro.
The service in the hotel was good. The receptionists have good English and were able to offer us recommendations about local activities and services. It was much more difficult to communicate in English to the waiters.
Our room was furnished fairly basically and the fittings in the bathroom were quite loose. It took a while to figure about the air conditioning but we got there in the end. The bed was not very comfortable but the hotel was happy to provide extra pillows for us. The room was spotlessly cleaned every day.
In terms of the local area there are some small shops along the seafront where you can buy basic provisions (bottled water cost 1 euro for 5 litres in a small supermarket as the tap water at the hotel cannot be drunk). The blue line bus stops 5 minutes from the hotel and links to Hercegnovi. We enjoyed spending a couple of days exploring Hercegnovi. The tourist boat Alexandra collects passengers from near the hotel for a trip to the Blue Cave which we would recommend.

Room Tip: Bungalow 1/3 and 1/4 share a first floor balcony with a very good view of the beach and no noise fro...
