“The right place to go for lamb over the bell”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013

Near the edge of the waters of the Bay of Kotor, this restaurant has an outside area and an inside area offering typical Montenegran fare. We had the lamb over the bell with a red pepper salad. The portions were plentiful but so were the prices at least for us, since it cost 20 euros each for lunch. True, the price was not outrageous, but one expects to pay less for lunch, specially when you convert the price into Canadian dollars. The lamb over the bell (rack of lamb, potatoes, tomatoes, spices) was great at 14 euros and the red pepper salad (roasted cold red peppers in oil and pesto)were good at 2.50 euros, plus the couvert at 1 euro, water and tip. It is recommended for its food and you are served a lot of food. Probably it would had been a good value lunch if we had limited ourselves to a salad or soup.

“Excellent Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2013

The staff were lovely and spoke English. The menu varied from local seafood to Itailian specialities. They also have Lamb cooked under the bell. There is lots to chose from. They have a big bbq so you can watch while they cook your meat. The setting of the restaurant is lovely. I had chicken breast in a mushroom sauce served with potatoes the portion is very big I had two chicken breast so my husband had to finish off my second piece so you will not leave hungry.

“famous for - Lamb under the Bell”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2013

Good food, good prices and great friendly service. You'll not go far short eating here. The soups are good and the lamb under the bell is enormous and tasty. Lost of other choices too, so there will be comething there for everyone.

“Good but worried about the state of the kitchen”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2013

We visited this restaursnt a week ago. It is a very welcoming restaurant. A very nice waiter greets you and the smell of the BBQ is enticing. Food can be very good but a walk down the side of the restaurant stopped me from making a return visit. There is a small window with iron grating and this, and the surrounding area, is completely covered in burnt, congealed fat which turned my stomach. For me, this begged the question, what is the state of the hygiene in the kitchen?

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are very pleased you were satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere of our restaurant. We are working very hard on day-to-day basis to maintain the high quality and standard our guests are used to, being the first and oldest restaurant in Perast.

We regret you left doubting about the cleanliness of the kitchen area. The fact is that the coal barbecue does produce smoke but surely not dirt. We can assure you that the overall hygiene of our restaurant , kitchen included, is immaculate. We would have been more than pleased to reassure you, giving you a tour of our restaurant, if only you'd asked.

We do hope you will get the chance to visit Skolji again and have a throughly pleasant time, enjoying our tasty food, friendly service and agreeable ambiance.
