At $40 US per night do not expect 5 stars, but you will certainly not find better at such a price.
I was initially a bit concerned about staying in a ‘’guest house’, but reading the Trip Advisor reviews, since it was number one and seemed to be the best in Anuradhapura, I decided to take the chance. I am very happy I choose to stay at the Little Paradise and on top of being a great choice, I saved money for other things.
Calm, secure, homey, pleasant, A/C comfortable room with mosquito net over the bed. Not that we saw mosquitoes in our room but it was nice to sleep knowing that none could get to us if ever one got in the room when opening the door. Bathroom with shower and plenty of hot water. Nice balcony. Good wi-fi connection.
A small caveat: during the school week we were woken up by music at a nearby school at around 7h30 am…If you are jet lagged and wish to sleep in, not pleasant...but felt back asleep after.
You can eat delicious typical home cooked Sri Lankan meals (breakfast and dinner) served on the premises and at a very low price.
The staff is very pleasant and accommodating.

Room tip: Room with balcony overlooking the garden

Lovely little guest house in a quiet park minutes from the centre. Great rice and curry for supper. Friendly helpful manager and staff. Cold shower and busy mosquitoes the only downsides. Recommended.

We stayed here for two nights and generally enjoyed it. The room was clean and spacious, with a good en-suite arrangement. One downside (not a reflection on our hosts, but s reality none the less) was that sitting outside on the porch was not possible of an evening as the mosquitoes were quite active.
Other observations:
- Delighted to be met off train by Tuktuk driver free of charge.
- in house food was good but a bit expensive(+50 to 100%) compared w the town. (We ate at the Family Bakers in town and it was excellent.)
- The lady hostess was very helpful arranging trips to Mihintale and the ancient city - although the transport rates were slightly (+20%) higher than market rate.
Worth staying.

Our room is spacious with romantic touches. Separate bathroom with immediate hot water in the shower. Good AC, spotty WiFi. We have a sitting area outside our room facing the garden.
The breakfast & dinner nook is arranged with four tables, seating 14; serene place to hang out during the day.
Breakfasts and dinners offered are some of the best I have experienced in this country; with a satisfying selection of protein, carbs, vegis and fruit.
Our host is both soft-spoken and assertive; inquiring about our plans while in the area, suggesting sites of interest and promptly making transportation arrangements upon request. His help is a godsend since ride share apps come up empty for any intercity travel other than to and from Colombo.
I find our host particularly endearing in his genuine, manifold curiosity. We have struck up conversations about a wide variety of subjects. We have also managed to have at least one interesting conversation with fellow travelers at every meal.

Room tip: Upper floor rooms offer more privacy, but a little more afternoon sun exposure. All rooms face the same direction.
