Stayed here in July and had a nice stay, staff were very good and attentive and location is ideal for exploring the cultural triangle. Ended up booking a Safari thought hem as well which was amazing! never have i been so close to elephants!!

Only drawback is that apart from itself there is noowhere else close to reeally eat, but that is true of alot of Sri Lanka.

Special metion to the owner who waited in the airport 10 hours to collect us after our flight was cancelled!

We recently stayed at the Nice Bungalows in Dambulla. I felt the stay was just OK! The place was chosen by the guide we hired and it wasn't horrible but was no great shakes! The biggest featuer is the fairly large, nice looking, clean pool which my friend used and said was great! We arrived and were taken to our room, which was just ok. The bathroom was rather old and grungy around the shower and leaked water big time with each shower. Getting Hot water didn't happen, but fairly warm water was possilbe once we figured out how the crazy system worked. The staff was helpful for sure, but the first night I was starving when we came back from Sigriya Lion Rock Climb and so sat down and said i was hungry and ordered. My travel buddy said she was going swimming and would eat later. They assumed ( and you know what they say about assuming!!) that i was waiting for her to eat, which I definitely was not... so after 1 1/2 hrs of waiting i said where is my supper and they said "oh we thought you were waiting for your friend"!!! I was slightly irrtitated to say the least.... and so they said they would bring it , but it still took 30 more minutes to come!! NOT IMPRESSED! At this point the head staff, perhaps manager stepped in apologizing ++++ and he was great, very good english. He was very sorry and willing to help in any way. I think english was not great for the basic workers there at accommodation. I will say that the food was freshly made, and the next night they were very willing to just cook a nice plate full of steamed, fresh veggies for me and they were so good and right from the market! All the breakfast were so so in Sri Lanka... and getting cold toast is not too enjoyable day after day! This seems to be the norm, as well as an ömlete, is just 2 eggs broken, stired and fried most places. No veggies/ cheeze etc inside, so that was a bit wierd for me as well. Our room was clean but older looking and was again OK for the purpose but I would have enjoyed a bit more of a place at the end of a long day!

My friend and I stayed one night in September on our travels around the island. The location is great, very quiet and tranquil. The food was good and the pool great although I agree there could be mattresses on the sun lounges. The staff were very helpful. Not sure of the price as our guide made the booking but would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for a night during our trip to Sri Lanka in October. The hotel is located 2 kms from A6 between Pelwehera and Inamaluwa. It provides a jungle kind of ambiance which is pretty nice. It has nine rooms, 4 rooms each in two blocks and one individual. Our tour operator booked the hotel, so we are NOT aware of the per night rates. We did an early check in at 10 AM in the morning and were greeted with a cold towel and orange juice.
We got room no 85 which is at the far end and close to the pool on the first floor. The room was quite spacious. The AC was fine but the issue was they did NOT have a fan. There is continuous hot water for shower. They have a very beautiful pool. Unfortunately we did not know swimming and could enjoy it. You have to cross a small bridge to get to the pool.
We had western breakfast in the first morning which was okay. In the second morning, complementary breakfast, we had Sri Lankan breakfast which was awesome. It comprised of iddiappams, potato curry, coconut chutney, juice, omelet and tea. Having the iddiappams by dipping those into potato curry was a pleasure. We did not have either lunch or dinner at the hotel, instead tried the local food outside (Bentota Bake House).
We faced an issue with the bathroom when water seeped into our room as we took shower just before checking out of the hotel. I think they would have taken care of it by now.

With a setting off the beaten track but close to Dambulla and Sigiriya sights there is great potential for this hotel.

There has clearly been some recent investment in the infrastructure with a new pool area and landscaping. The bedroom also appeared to be freshly decorated and tiled.

However it's the lack of attention to detail which disappoints. The new pool area is indeed beautiful but the slatted wooden sun loungers did not have any mattresses or pool towels which makes for a really uncomfortable seat. There was a 'fresh juice bar' hut which sounds promising, although was not manned when we arrived late afternoon.

Some areas of the build appear unfinished around the edges.

The rooms are spacious and simply furnished but the one towel each provided and bath mats were multicoloured and threadbare, which, although adequate, leaves room for improvement. Also, no toiletries were provided except a soap bar and a single sachet of shampoo. The bed linen was clean but old and worn, with only one pillow provided each.

The food was fresh although predominantly western and service was efficient. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

We stayed one night during a tour of the island. We had a spacious first floor room, it was clean and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was OK but the basin tap gave a mere trickle of water! The setting is beautiful, in the jungle, and there is a fabulous new pool area (which we sadly arrived too late to use). Food was perfectly adequate, a nice curry in the evening and fruit/omelette/toast in the morning all served on the open verandah.
The cost including dinner was extremely reasonable.
