“Perfect for one budget night in Dambulla”
Reviewed 17 July 2013 via mobile

Being that many of the places in the lonely planet book were a bit pricey we decided to check out this option. We had one of the 1,500 Rs per night rooms. The bed and pillows may have been a bit hard, but the fan was good and the hot water was nice after a hike up Sigiriya. The dinner of rice and curry was good and so was the breakfast. Maybe a bit overpriced for the breakfast. It was an easy walk to the entrance of the cave temples. Defineately a good place to stay if you are not concerned about being in the centre of town. It's not like there is much to do there anyways as most people come for the rock cave and Sigiriya.

though we just spent one night there, i found the room is unbelievably valuable!
unfortunately, for us, backpackers, we didnt try the home-cooking dishes.
i recommend the cute white building with 4 rooms. a little expensive than other bunglow rooms, but have a better view.
great location also!

Room Tip: the cute white building is good!!!

Being right now here, so excellent to comment. The location is great as its just close to the temple and to everything. You can just jump off the bus when you see the golden buda and go walking.
The rooms are very clean and there's warm water, they are painting the building right now. I'm in one of the upper level rooms for 2200 R a night which is very good and they just made me breakfast when I arrived.
Service is excellent and the owners very nice and helpful. Great place.

A very nice family-run hotel with great food in the attached restaurant! We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. The location was perfect to reach the cavetemples of Dambulla as well as for a daytour to Sigiriya rock.

We stayed 2 night in new rooms which were really clean and comfortable, meals were fine, family was helpful. We had nice stay here, but any special experience. Prices were little bit higher than I would expect.

Familly run by a lovely familly, very friendly and informative.,they helped us organize transport to the local temple.
I stayed in a large double room, very clean and with a lovely bathroom.
This guest house has been open for a long time and it seems they have got things just right.
I would definitely recommend this guest house and would stay there again.

The food was great too, food is served inside their house where you'll be seated in a beautifuly decorated room with a nice water feature, you need to see it !!

We were recommended to the Sunflower inn by other travellers & were not sorry we took their advice. There is the choice of 3 room standards, so something for every pocket & they are in the process of adding a family room & restaurant. We stayed in a large clean & bright room with 2 balconies, 2 showeres, (one hot, the other cold) & a king size bed. There is a choice of home cooked foods & all that we tried during our 5 night stay were delicious. The hosts are amazingly helpful not only on their premises but helping with local information so that one gets the best out of their stay. We originally came for one night & stayed for 5 - that says it all
