Stayed for 2 nights. very friendly efficient and professional staff. room was lovely and spacious, with complementary basket of fruit - exceptionally clean and beautifull view. this is more like an English 4 star hotel with all the mod cons. the food we had was nice, but the same offered each day - the selection at breakfast wasn't as good as the other hotels we stayed in. We happened to be there on a festival day and they wouldn't serve any alcohol apart from in the room - so couldn't have a glass of wine with dinner, which isn't the end of the world but a bit irritating when you are on holiday. there was no evening entertainment, nor was the bar open when we were there - so it was a bit dead, with just people using the lobby for internet - no atmosphere at all , and too far to walk to town. We didn't mind too much as we were on a tour and had to up early, but its a shame .no atmosphere in the restaurant either, and although service is good, we found the staff too attentive - they were hovering which made me feel quite uncomfortable

Dear Reviewer,
We would like to thank you for your kind feedback and taking the time to place such a nice review. The Tourmaline Team is very proud of our superb, professional hospitality and delighted that you enjoyed it in a unique, luxurious & relaxing property like us.we appologize that we couldnt serve you with any alcoholic beverages due to the regulations that we had to adhere during perahera period, kandy is known as the most religious city for budhism in sri lanka.during your stay we served our guests a buffet breakfast with all the necessary eateries but surely we are concerned to make some change in the varieties for the valuable guests who stay more than 1 night.while thanking you for the comments & suggestions we would look forward to see you soon.

We stayed for two nights during the last two nights of the Perahera. We were greeted with a lovely cup of tea on arrival (the only hotel to have done so) and we had an absolutely fabulous room - spacious, comfortable and very clean with wonderful views across to the other hills with lovely big windows.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful and we especially were grateful for the suggestion of a packed dinner to take down to the perahera (or we wouldn't have been able to eat) and also the lift down to Kandy proper on the staff bus as it was impossible for our driver to do so with all the crowds.

We did not eat at the restaurant but had room service for lunch on the two days and we found the food great and we did not have a really long wait as we had done as many other hotels. The breakfast was adequate but you had to watch out for other people pushing in ahead of you at the omelette station. Not the hotels fault at all.

We would be very happy to recommend this hotel. It is out of main part of the city but only a few minutes by tuk tuk (or way back at night) or by the driver.

The rooms at this hotel are great - fresh, clean, modern, big comfortable beds and a big window you can open up to let in fresh air and take in the wonderful views. The had a warm friendly welcome including a cup of tea. All staff were very friendly and the service was great. However what lets it down is the food. It's edible but dissapointing. The restaurant also lacks atmosphere and I don't think they realise they are playing the tunes of nursery rhymes. The pool area is a bit tired but good enough for a swim and relax.

Very nice hotel. Sitting on a high hill - beautiful view. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. There is a small swimming pool, a tennis court and a tennis table. It is rather a small hotel.
The crew is friendly and helpful. The dinner meals are very nice and served to the table.
The only thing that was annoying is that only at the lobby there is a free wifi. Not in the rooms.
I think that the same way you have "free" electricity and water in ther room - you should also get free wifi.
If not for that - this hotel would get 5 stars rating from me.

Dear Reviewer,
Many thanks for your wonderful summary about your recent holiday, we are very proud that we lived up to your expectations.we really do believe that after great service, great food and great surroundings, our guests want great choices. So we have worked hard to give plenty of choices with regard to eating, drinking, sleeping, recreation, sightseeing & relaxation and we wont stop implementing more & more towards extreme customer satisfaction.we have provided free wifi in the lobby round the clock, but we charge only 2.5 USD for the facility in rooms which you are entitled for 2 hrs(usage time) fast internet,we think its worth compared to the charges which other hotels charge for this facility.infact we value your opinion very much and we do expect to see you during your next visit to sri lanka.

A very good hotel tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy on top of beautiful green hills with great views over the green country below. Nice clean rooms with big windows, courteous staff. Nothing's too much trouble.
Food could have been better, especially meat and fish which tend to be overcooked and hard. It could have been cheaper too considering you can have delicious meals in the local cafes in Kandy at a fraction of the hotel's price.
Overall a nice experience, definitely worth it.

Dear Reviewer,
We thank you for spending time to share your thoughts - your comments are very much appreciated. We do agree with you that the views out from your window is second to non other as it has been the location & the service which is unique about The Tourmaline. However, we are very much concerned about your comment regarding the food, so we have passed this
information to the appropriate department who will put corrective measures in place immediately. We really are so pleased to see that you had a great time and we look forward to welcoming you back next year for an even better holiday.

Brillaint hotel, beautiful rooms and hotel in general, very clean. Very attentive staff, with superb customer service skills. Stayed for one night and wished it had been longer. The staff made you feel as if you were the only guests in the hotel and gave a very warm welcome. The rooms were very modern, we got a fruit basket and chocolate truffles on arrival. Would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!

Stayed in 6 different hotels during our tour of Sri Lanka and this was the best - both for service and situation. Beautiful view (Room 311 had it all) and friendly but efficient staff. Stayed for 2 nights and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Room 311 was quiet and had a beautiful view
