We stumbled upon this restaurant after wandering around the area looking for a Sri Lankan Curry for lunch. As we were travelling in the low season the guesthouses were all very quiet and this particular guesthouse / restaurant did not look to be open. However a man called us into this restaurant from the balcony and we happily obliged. I will note that we at this stage had not read any of the excellent reviews about this restaurant on trip advisor.
We walked onto the outside balcony a bit hesitantly as the place did not even appear to be open! But we sat down (with quite a breathtaking view) and ordered the Sri Lankan special of rice and 5 curries.
When we were served our meals we were blown away by the food and the service - the chef, who could have quite possibly been the mother / grandmother of the house, even came out several times to check everything was OK with the food. And it was - a no frills, genuinely delicious Sri Lankan meal with enough food to feed all three of us and more!
We walked away from this restaurant so happy we found it as it still stands to be one if the best dining experiences we had in Sri Lanka. Just don't expect anything fancy, but that is the beauty about this place, we could imagine this would be what it would be like eating with their family in a Sri Lankan house. Fantastic experience.
