This is absolutely home away from home. They have very clean and nicely decorative rooms. But mainly the family you stay is absolutely wonderful. After a nice day you can relax in front of the house with à nice cup of tea. The surrounding is nice and quiet. Breakfast is nice and the family offers transport. We loved staying here!

Only 3 rooms, which makes for a quiet and relaxing stay. Pleasant dining area with communal table so easy to meet fellow travellers. Good breakfast, evening meals available nearby, or get your own picnic food from supermarket in the town. Handy for lakeside and places of interest.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at The Glen 58 in Kandy and we found it excellent. Clean rooms with hot water shower and pillows that reminded us of small clouds. The owners make you feel very welcome at their place, the wife makes the best tomato-pineapple jam in the world!!!
We stayed for five night at The Glen 58 then we hired a van from them and that was great. We saw parts of Sri Lanka that we never wouldn't have seen without the car and it's driver. We went from Kandy to Nuware Eliya to Ella to Tiser Maharama to Galle to Bentota to Colombo and on to the airport. It was a 7 day trip with a lot of nice stops along the way!
The price was 450 rupees per 10 kilometers in this ac-van with 8 seats. We tried to fill the car up as much as we could and picked up a lot of hitchikers.
You can rent the car directly from The Glen 58 homestay or email [--] or call Nihal at [--] or try the very good driver Asvee at [--] . They also have a office number [--].
Highly recommended...

We stayed only 1 night in this homestay but it was a good experience. The couple is very welcoming and speaks very well English. The room we stayed in (3 single bed ith attached bathroom) was spotless. There was even hot shower. Breakfast is included.

We stayed 2 nights in January 2011.
Its cheap (2000 Lkr) but don't expect a warm welcome nor a good night sleep. The beds are uncomfortable so we slept very lightly. Because of the natural surroundings you'll be waken up by different kinds of birds starting from 5 am and when they're done by 7am, you'll hear the husband and wife talk loudly in the house.
Kandy is a nice place though, but 1 to 1.5 day is enough in our opinion.

The Glen 58 is very reasonably priced accommodation with a great family. We found Camilla & Dean to be lovely helpful genuine people and the breakfast was very tasty. The rooms are basic but adequate- previous advice of bringing a top sheet is good (there isn't one). We also didn't find the afore mentioned curfew a problem. The last night of the perahera we were late but Dean was very understanding and apologetic when his tuk tuk driver friend let us down. It would be great if the rooms were updated slightly- a top sheet, less lumpy pillows and maybe a new shower curtain- but it still is great value. Also Aish (their daughter in law) was very helpful with the booking, by accident she had forgotten to charge us the perahera rates and the family are so honest, they stuck to the rates originally agreed. If you want to stay with lovely people in a clean spot with good food at a reasonable price, don't look any further.

Room Tip: Bring a top sheet if you need one to sleep.

This is a good value guesthouse: clean, friendly people, good room and bathroom, ...
The only negative thing is that we had to be home before 10 P.M. Kandy is one of the few lively towns in Sri Lanka where you can go out at night, so the hour was very strict.
