“Great location, views & value”
Reviewed 13 September 2012 via mobile

Great views from this hotel and a short walk to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and town. More basic facilities than some other places we stayed, but spotlessly clean and great value for money. Would recommend.

I've stayed here for two nights in september. I was totally surprised about the location and the guesthouse. For 2000 rupees, you got a doubleroom with a mosquito net a nice bathroom. The personal is very friendly and you got a very nice view over Kandy! This hostel is the number 1 hostel in Sri Lanka (hostelworld.com) in 2012, and they deserve it!

So, if you ever visit Kandy, take a look at this hostel!

We stayed here for two nights in July 2012. The rooms are great value, we had a room on the second floor with a lovely balcony with views looking down the mountain. The rooms are extremely clean, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good value. All in all, we had a great stay and would recommend this place to anyone.

Overall clean simple room for 3. Good air con. Staff friendly & helpful. Lovely to wake in morning with monkeys by the balcony& sounds of birds. Very laid back & relaxing. Only downside was moody curtain in shower room.

We have very mixed feelings, we were there during the Esala Perhera, but this was the 2nd most expensive hotel we stayed at, and the lowest end hotel. This is as others have said really a hostel. The rates were not higher due to the festival. The rooms are very spartan, the rooms on the 3rd floor are SMALL.

This was the first place we encountered that was not spotless, the bathroom shower curtains were coated in mold. This seemed to be the standard, we were in 2 rooms, the first one was on the 3rd floor, it was beyond small and as others have said there is no wifi available in the 3rd floor. Truly at $90.00 per night plus tax for a hostel get another router. The second night we were moved to the 2nd floor with a small balcony. This was larger but till spartan, and we couldn't pick up wifi consistently unless we were in the common area or the first floor. The bathroom shower curtain was just covered in mold.

The location is up a narrow windy road and is really not convenient to walk to any where if you are a back packer. We had a driver so this was not an issue for us.

All that being said for a large city Kandy does. It have a lot of options. The rates need to come down at this hotel and the wifi needs to be improved, this is all within their control.

We paid $80 US/night for a triple room at Nature Walk Resort and for that price we can only give it 3 stars. The manager and staff were very friendly, but this was way too much to pay for what we got (we booked in advance through email). In general in Sri Lanka, I would not recommend booking budget/mid range accommodation in advance. I learned that we should have had our driver book us places as we went, as he was able to get much more reasonable prices. The hotel (not a resort) is on the outskirts of town and in a peaceful location with good views of the Kandy hills. They have really nice common areas with balconies to hang out. Our room was only okay - not the cleanest (black mold around the sink), a foam mattress, and poor hot water pressure. Meals were decent, nothing special, but fine (ask for spicy if you like spicy). Breakfast were okay, although it was weird that we only got half an omelette each. Tuk tuk to town centre is 300 rupiah max. They have wifi, but it is slow and only available in the lobby. If we had paid $40/night, I would rate this place higher, but at $80 it wasn't good enough.
