“close and convenient”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

Situated closer to the city, and it was very clean and convenient. Very friendly Staff. Stayed there for 3 days and all 3 days they provided the local food. Excellent. Daily entertainment of the monkeys are amazing.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have a lovely view and it is very quiet.

the first impression of Kandy was not good. noisy, choking on diesel fumes and crazy traffic.
so we were very happy to see that the guesthouse that we selected, Nature Walk resort, was protected from this being on the other side of the hill.
there, it was calm with a pretty view.
the food was good and the price honest.
i think it will be even better when the roof top restaurant will be finished.

The place was good value for the money, relatively clean, beds were comfy enough. Although something got through the mosquito net and bit the heck out of my ankles. Wasn't sure if it was the pincer bug I later found smushed under the covers. A/C units are kind of noisy but did keep the room cooler. I couldn't get the shower water to warm up at all though and just gave up after awhile. Was only there for one night so it wasn't a big deal.

Breakfast was nice and it had just rained so the view out the balcony was quite pretty. Might be kind of hard to find but my driver knew where the place was so we didn't have any problems at all.

There is a dearth of good hotels and indeed good restarunts in Kandy. We came to this hotel purely on the basis of the trip advisor reviews. It is importnat to be aware that this is a well run guest house rather than fully fledged hotel. There are not facilities find in hotel eg TV, kettle etc and the rooms themselves are fairly basic. The breakfast consisting of fresh fruit and eggs was fresh but there is not much in the way of choice. The hotel common areas and restaurant are open and monkeys do come right in and took food from tables. Staff are very vigilant in the restaurant and the monkeys are very photogenic but if you have a fear of monkeys this is not the place for you! The location is a little out of Kandy but the walk is 10-15 minutes downhill. Overall, if you don't mind simple accommodation, this well run hotel is great value and a good choice particularly given the limited options locally, you'll almost certainly get some great wildlife photos from the comfort of your chair!

We stayed here as part of an organized tour.
On the plus side, it's up the hill away from the busy town which provides lovely views across the valley for one third of the rooms (unfortunately we had no view, our room looked onto a wall).
On the downside, the room smelt of sewage; we could hear everything in the room next door including people going to the toilet; the sheets were threadbare; there were thousands of mosquitoes; there was no wifi, phone or TV in the room; and there was very loud building works on the roof above our room at 8am.

The room we had was fantastic, large and airy and looked like it had recently been renovated. It had glass doors opening up onto the balcony where you could sit and enjoy the lovely views of the hills around Kandy.
The only negative is that it was a bit noisy, you could here the guests upstairs and the people next door have to walk through your balcony to get to thier room or as in our case kids running back and forth in the morning. The staff were really helpfull and personally walked us down the hill to the cultural show.

We payed 3500 rupees for a room (after negotiating) without a view but including breakfast with eggs and very clean. Airco was 500 rupees extra but it was fine without. The fan did go on turbo speed sometimes for a few minutes which is annoying when you're sleeping. The public areas are nice with great views. You can easily walk to the temple, but the bus or trainstation are better reached with a tuk-tuk (150 Rupees if you walk down the road and find one or 300 if you call one from the hotel). A beer was 350 rupees (+10%) which I was more expensive than most beers I've had in Sri Lanka...
