Description: Sells a collection of novel short-eats made with soy, such as wades, and roti rolls and sandwiches filled with soy sausage. The biggest attraction are the vegan the generous soy soft-serve ice cream cones. The open-air counter high above the street is extremely popular with locals, though service is prompt. Also sells typical vegetable buns and rolls, and bulk soy products such tofu and tempeh can be purchased there. And exciting find for the dairy-free traveller. Trucks in Kandy also sell the so called "soy ice cream", in smaller portions, though the ice cream at the Soya Centre is the tastiest and has the best quality.

This place is so cute, with children and adults sitting here and there on the simple patio, all indulging in their identical ice cream cones! As I wanted to have a day off sugar, we decided to skip ice cream and get a couple of sandwiches as a small lunch instead. Soft buns filled with a soy burger and some tomato and lettuce are 60 Rs each and absolutely delicious! We also tried some kind of wrap with spicy mock meat inside a roti. They seemed to have several different options. We tried to get the vegan sausage mentioned by another reviewer but they didn't seem to have them that day. Vegetarians, don't miss this!

Thank you very much for your review. The mock meat rotti which you refer to is called the "Soy Rotti" which is made with the residue of the soy beans, once the soy milk is extracted for the soy milk and ice cream. Its full of protein and other nutrients! :) hope you visit us again!

Worth stopping by to try the ice cream! We ordered a mixture of vanilla and strawberry flavours and it was delicious and refreshing. Highly recommended.

Well, I still make it a point to grab a soya ice cream cone when ever i go to the kandy town. It still tastes the same...may be the quantity is bit less but who cares!!!:) I have tried their 'rotti' which is really good as well!

As with the catering staff, some of them never 'wear' a smile. Its a down point specially for a nation who knows how to smile!!! At times they take the cash and 'fix' the ice cream with the same unwashed hand. U know what i mean... and that can't be hygienic!!! These minor things do matter to a crowd who enjoys a good/healthy meal!
All in all, a good place for a Soya Ice Cream Lover!!! (Like me)

We appreciate any comments/suggestions you may have in order to make this place better. We usually make our staff follow a set of guidelines in terms of hygiene because we deal with food and it is utmost important. We will definitely work on these issues as well as our front office "smiles". Do let us know if we've improved the next time you visit. Glad you love our ice cream!!Thanks again for your review.

I was really looking forward to trying the soya ice-cream & i loved it. It had a subtle hint of soya, not over powering at all.

Also tried the soya wraps. The wrap had a spicy deep friend soya filling. It was good and tasty but somewhere along the fried soya got the better of me & i was feeling stuffed! Couldn't finish it! :)

Do try the soya ice cream!

I tried all of the soya ice creams (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla). They all tasted lovely and cooled me down on a hot sunny day.It was good value. There were a lot of locals there and it was easy to find as it;s right next door to the YMCA hostel.
