Went to worship the place. For buddhists this is a sacred place and non buddhists it's a breath taking place. Located at the top of the mountain near to the Kandy city. A huge Buddha statue has been built here and people can climb up behind the statue. Has a really good view of the Kandy town. Since this is a Buddhist temple , recommend to wear decent cloths which cover your body. Stay away from bright colours and expect a good behaviour.

Such an imposing sight, and so inspiring to see, this huge white statue of the Buddha is a must see for any traveller of any religion. The devotion of the Sri Lankans to the Buddha makes a trip to their country almost a pilgrimage and the constant Buddha statues involve the traveller in much deep thought about existence. The beauty of this statue makes it hard to leave and we sat there for some time just gazing at it in wonder. Beauty is a rare thing and there is so much beauty in Sri Lanka.

We reached Kandy in the evening and our driver took us this to the temple, turned out to be a great decision. They charge LKR 250 per person as entrance fee for foreigners, plus some donations for keeping the shoes. The temple is clean and quiet. One can climb up the stairs to get a clear and amazing view of the city. As it was evening and the sun was just setting, the surroundings and the city looked very beautiful. Would suggest to go in the evening as the floor would not be hot to walk and the weather would be soothing to enjoy oneself and get some nice pics clicked.
