There is nothing to fault at Baramba House! The owner, Barbara, was exceptionally helpful organising a driver to get us to Baramba House. The house itself is beautiful, and the rooms are lovely and spacious. We would definitely recommend having dinner, Barbara is a fantastic cook, so good in fact, we changed our evening plans so we could eat her cooking again! Breakfast is, as previous review have said, superb. We got a tuktuk into Kandy on both the days we stayed. Barbara recommended a driver who knew his way to Baramba so it was very easy! If I were to return to Kandy there would be no doubt that I would stay again here.

Everything about Baramba House is excellent. It is intimate, immaculate and immeasurably comfortable. The hosts, Barbara and Sandun excel in everything. They have a great personal touch and a wealth of knowledge to assist you in planning trips and travel. The breakfasts were the best we had anywhere in Sri Lanka and always varied. We just kept coming back because it was so welcoming. There is a charming young tuktuk driver on call to get you into Kandytown or elsewhere. I cannot recommend this b and b highly enough. Thankyou Barbara and Sandun.

Room Tip: The corner room is larger but the middle room is no less charming.

While planning for our recent trip to Sri Lanka, we had a difficult time deciding upon a Hotel/Guesthouse in Kandy. Few hotels had positive TA ratings and most guesthouses seemed underwhelming based on pictures. Also, many hotels and guesthouses are located in the suburbs and outskirts of town. For a first-time Kandy tourist, I was hesitant to book any accommodations outside the city center.

Well, if you find yourself in this same predicament, look no further. Baramba (run by a Swiss native, Barbara) was our favorite stay in Sri Lanka. Her house is beautiful, well located (only 10 minutes by Tuk Tuk to the city center), contemporary well designed rooms, ever present owner to answer questions, delicious breakfast with home made bake goods, nice swimming pool, and good common space for the guests to relax and interact.

Warning: Baramba is difficult to find and took two friendly locals and our driver about 45 minutes to locate the house. Make sure to have Barbara's phone number with you so that your driver can call ahead for directions.

The only other drawback to Baramba is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. This was not an issue during our stay but might be for others depending on your season of travel.

Overall, we highly recommend Baramba. For comparison purposes, our other accommodations in Sri Lanka were: Buckingham Place in Rekawa, Cinnamon Wild in Yala, Living Heritage Koslanda, and Heritage Kandalama.

Room Tip: Go for the $10 upgrade and stay in the Deluxe room.

The reward for the drive along the track a few kms away from the busy Kandy city is this tranquil 3 room B and B. The owners had a tuk tuk waiting at the station for us which was great as it could be a difficult place to locate. The view is out over a river valley and the whole newish place is decorated with Barbara's care, love and exquisite eye for beauty. Sundun kindly organised all our tuk tuk transport. For the cost of only 15USD we enjoyed one of the loveliest meals we have ever had the pleasure of eating cooked by Barbara and served at their beautiful dining room table upstairs. This 3 night stay was an absolute pleasure.

Room Tip: The corner room appears a little larger with a gorgeous bathroom.

Our driver had difficulty finding Baramba House. He called the owners, a couple of times, for directions. Finally, we arrived at this stunning place. Worth the search!!
We stayed at their larger room, which was very comfortable and beautiful, with double pane windows. The modern slate bathroom had a good size shower. Decoration and materials, used all over, are tasteful and show attention to detail. None of the three rooms offer air conditioning but it was not necessary. It was cool at night. The swimming pool is gorgeous and they have sun umbrellas and chaise loungers large enough for two. The gardens are well manicured and offer very nice views towards the river and the countryside.
The owners, Barbara and Sandun, are very attentive and will cater to all your needs. They called a tuctuc, to take us into Kandy for dinner one evening. Breakfast was excellent. Barbara is a great cook and baked delicious fresh bread, muffins and/or quiches every morning. The coffee was one of the best we have had and the juices were freshly squeezed. She makes her own jams and spreads, and will surprise you with something different each morning.
There is a large family room for the use of guests, where you can sit and listen to music or check your emails.
Overall, we had a lovely stay at Baramba and highly recommended it to anyone that enjoys a stay at special places.

Room Tip: Stay at the large room if available. It was beautiful.

I can't imagine a better place to stay when visiting Kandy. Amazing peaceful location on the hillside outside town, with views across to the Botanical Gardens. The bedrooms are spotless, modern and stylish, and there's plenty of space in the adjoining living room and breakfast room. The beautiful swimming pool is on a private terrace with tropical plantings. The owners were lovely and friendly and their breakfasts superb!

Baramba House is situated on a hill overlooking the river at a quiet place out of the center of busy Kandy. This big modern house is built on two terraces, the lower one has a lovely swimming pool. There are three guest rooms at the ground floor of the upper terrace of which only two are rented out at the same time.
We stayed for 3 nights in the larger room at the corner. This room is very comfortable with a fine kingsize bed and a large modern bathroom. Everything is clean and new. There is a shared terrace in front of the room surrounded by a garden with tropical trees and plants. Guest may use a large living room that is furnished in an elegant way. There is an adjoining breakfast room and kitchen for free coffee and tea. Breakfast can also be served at the terrace. It was the best breakfast we had in Sri Lanka with home made specialties.
The owners Barbara and Sandun are excellent hosts. They live on the top floor of the house. When given advanced notice Barbara will prepare a very tasty dinner in her own kitchen upstairs.
Very much recommended if you prefer a quiet place and lots of personal attention!
