Can't See the lake view but there is nice hill view from the rooftop & balcony! Staff are pleasant, friendly. Walking distance to the temple & lake! Very Clean, quiet & comfortable, no mosquito at all even without the Net & AC! Excellent value of money!

We stayed at KR one night after having been relocated from another hotel in town that was fully booked.
The rooms were basic but clean, and they had a cozy balcony overlooking the well kept garden and part of the hillside overlooking the lake (the lake not in view though). There was also a very attractive rooftop balcony with the same views as mentioned above.
The staff however were exceptionally helpful and friendly - especially the manager (Gabriel). He really went out of his way for us in helping us with accomodation and transportation while we were there. The last star in this review goes to the staff!
All in all - good value for the money. Highly recommendable.

We stayed one night in Kandy Residence during December 2012. The hotel is located up the hill behind the Kandy Lake and is fairly easy to access via tuk-tuk or taxi (but a bit far to walk). The guest house rooms are fairly simple, beds were comfortable although no mosquito net was provided as shown in the pics so we had to put insect cream on in the middle of the night after we were bitten. The bathroom is also fairly basic but functions well. We had breakfast and dinner at the guest house and they were both quite good. The owner was very friendly and helped us to arrange transport to Galle the following day.

We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful view of the hills. Very friendly staff, breakfast was simple but tasty and well presented. Very good location, close to the city and lake (about 300 rupees one way) but some tuk tuk drivers found it hard to find initially. Room is simple but comfortable and clean with a/c or fan and flatscreen TV. I would recommend this guest house as good value for money, very helpful staff and great view.

Our stay at Kandy Residence was pleasant and a good value, located up the hill that makes for a quiet relaxing stay, rooms have a/c, flat screen, and a nice view. Dining is reasonably priced and the food is good quality.

Few notes: off the beaten path it's not easy for people to locate, no beer/wine on hand, but tuktuk can be taken into town. Get price in writing so there's no discussion, management will side with you however. Although its insisted there are no Mosquitos, they do exist suggest to use air con.
