This is a gem of a hotel. Very luxurious, clean and modern with impeccable service. Kandy hotel’s downtown are likely to be less comfortable as they are in the older part of the city center.

If you are OK with a quick 15- 20 minute drive this is a great spot.

The pool is beautiful, curries are outstanding, WIFI is very fast and strong and the staff is very eager to live up to just high expectations.

I had a lovely stay and recommend this hotel!

We spent two nights at Clove Villa, which is situated about 15-30mins drive from the centre of Kandy (depending on the time of day).

The food served in this little hotel was absolutely wonderful. We don’t usually eat in hotels, but we had dinner both nights at the Villa, as well as breakfast and one lunch. There is no set time for meals; you eat when you want and there is unlimited tea and biscuits too. Breakfast consisted of pancakes, fruit, toast and cooked breakfast and there is a selection of western and Sri Lankan meals for dinner. We really can’t say enough about how good the food was or how friendly and courteous the staff are too.

The Villa has a fabulous lounge area where we sat each night after dinner, as well as outside seating in the gardens.

We were slightly disappointed with our room; it wasn’t quite the luxurious boutique style room we had expected, but it was perfectly adequate.

Honestly we were not so delighted when we arrived there, simply because we wanted a hotel from where we could stroll around in the city centre. From their premises, you can't! You need a driver or a tuk-tuk.
Anyway, the small and cosy hotel was very nice, pleasant room (one even with a jacuzzi attached), nice outside pool, warm welcome.
The real surprise, from our perspective, was the food. It was great, very delicious, prepared and presented with lots of care and love. We spent hours discussing with the chief of staff, discussing about food, this and that. He said that he just returned from Dubai where we experienced working in a star-restaurant. He said that the chef had been hired recently. Apparently the chef wanted to show us all his skills and competences.
For all places where we had been on our three-weeks journey, this place is among the top 3 concerning food, although the quality of the room and the premise as such should also not be under-estimated.
We had booked a whole package wherefore we we did not know how much would have been this hotel. Apparently, we found out later, this hidden gem has its price.
It is up to you to make your choice.

Room Tip: the room with the jacuzzi

Stayed here for a one night stop over in Kandy as part of our honeymoon, and this is an absolute gem of a boutique hotel. Away from the main hustle and bustle of central Kandy this converted house has an absolutely stunning lobby / restaurant area, where you are greeted by Charlie and his team, who as mentioned by the other reviewers is as good a host as you could wish for! The rooms are lovely, the food was fantastic and the pool area is great. There is even a pool table and roof top garden where you can chill out on the 1st floor. Would love to go back!

Kandy was our first night in Sri Lanka, and we were just looking for somewhere nice for one night before catching the train to Ella in the morning.
Clove Villa was amazing. It is a lovely hotel but it is really Charlie, the manager, that makes the place. He was super. We had a fantastic Sri Lankan meal on the terrace outside.
