Lovely place, but needs a fresh coat of paint, and all round, some TLC. The stairs are quite treacherous being super smooth - one of our guests literally slid down the last two steps - protective "grip" strips definitely need to be placed on each step.
Rooms are oddly designed. There was a "walk though" double room to get to a Master Bedroom - ok if you are family with young children but not so if you are a "couple" per bedroom. Awkward for sure. In addition, a squeaky spring mattress and soft pillows contributed to a restless night's sleep. Also, as we weren't a fan of gekkos or other flying objects I was hugely disappointed that there was no option for airconditioning. Bathrooms while being large and spacious could do with a bit of sprucing up in terms of accessories.
Hosts Dhammi and Anura were wonderful. Friendly and sweet and ever so keen to please, they made sure our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as they possibly could.
All up, when you consider what you are paying per night, it's a good deal. However, having said that, I wouldn't mind at all if the owners charged a little extra and included items like a washing machine, fresh towels each day, airconditioning options and a fridge EXCLUSIVELY for guests.
We were looking for a place to relax during our time in Kandy. We wanted something that was not too close to central Kandy, but still near enough to be able to visit it. We came across Amandari, which is located in the outskirts of Kandy and it was a great choice. It is a gorgeous property with breathtaking views all around and a beautiful huge garden. It is very clean and well maintained. The rooms are spacious, neat and bright, and the bathrooms are new, modern and very clean.
The hosts Anura and his wife greeted us and we immediately felt welcomed. We stayed 4 nights and during our stay we had a few day trips to Nuwara Eliya and Sigiriya. They provided us with their own vehicle which we used for our day trip. This was very convenient for us, plus the prices are reasonable. If you prefer, you can also use local transport to visit Kandy or Peradeniya gardens; there is a bus stop just outside the property.
If you are an outdoor lover there are plenty of outdoor spaces to chill out. It is a tranquil atmosphere and you are surrounded by outstanding views, you'll never get bored of the beauty!
Dammi's home made food is the best. She prepared numerous delicious local dishes which were tasty and succulent. We had our breakfast and dinner at the villa and the prices are reasonable. We highly recommend this villa for anyone who is looking for a nice, relaxed place.
It was a home away from home. From the moment we landed to Amandari we felt so comfortable. Enjoyed the generous hospitality. Food prepared was so delicious.Love everything about the place.
Stayed 3 nights with my family of 5 along with my wife's parents. Since I have been to a Bungalow in the same area, I was familiar with the location and surrounding. The views were spectacular and the Bungalow set-up was excellent and well maintained. The Caretakers were a lovely couple who were always there to extend a helping hand to make your stay comfortable. The food was delicious and cooked as per our requirements to perfection. The kids loved it so much that they wanted to come back with their cousins the next week but were disappointed to know that the Bungalow was not available for the days we wanted. Worth every single Rupees spent. Would definitely come back again.
The View was stunning. You can just keep watching it hours and hours. So relaxing.
Tissa and his wife were a wonderful, friendly couple. Their food was very tasty.
Only drawback was, we had power cuts almost every night for about one hour. Should install a generator to the Villa.
Over all the whole family enjoyed the stay thoroughly. Thank you!
It was being a splendid villa. The villa was located at a spectacular location and it gave us a good panorama.
Caretakers were really nice duo and their hospitality, Also we feel like to visit again to taste their delicious meals very soon.
Only thing there was no generator power.
We stayed at Amandari for 2 nights and it was a cozy place.
Villa is located on a small steep, hence it gives a panoramic view. all rooms are clean and pleasant. bathrooms are well maintained. there are plenty of places, in the yard as well as in the house, to stay in relax.
The staff gave us a warm welcome and all our foods and beverages were well prepared, according to our needs.
