We were there during our honeymoon trip and it was great! We came to the guesthouse straight from adam's peak and we got a great room and a cold drink and all of our stinky :-) laundry was taking cared of and returned with a smell of roses.. The food there was the best! The breakfast was very tasty, on some of the days we even got great sri lankan pancakes, even though the food is sri lanka is great the food there was superb.
The owners were really really nice and were very helpful and helped us with our questions and with their own suggestions.
The garden was really nice and we while eating outside we enjoyed the great view.
It's a great place in Kandy, really quiet and about few minutes (walking) from the lake and the tooth temple.
They even arranged a trip for us to Dambula and Sigiriya and it was really cheap!

To summarize, great people and very nice and kind, great atmosphere, awesome food, very very clean, worth every rupee and more!

Thank you for a great stay.

Really enjoyed staying at this guesthouse. Wasanthi was there all the time and provided the best service ever. She's really warm and friendly. House is in a nice condition and has well kept gardens with a great view into jungle up a hillside. Downside is that it is a busy road about 100m away and it can be noisy. You can get to the lake by going through the garden door and going down a path to bottom of hill and back up the other side which takes you close to the Devon hotel.

I was charged 3500 rupees per night including service charges and taxes. This was low season, however. Tuktuk driver was a neighbor and charges 300 rupees to pick up and drop off at Kandy railway station, 500 rupees for the botanical gardens. I think the garden rate's fair, but it should be 200 rupees to/from station. It's up to you if you wish to negotiate or just happy to pay a little bit more.

I stayed in 2 rooms. Both were fan cooled rather than air-con. The lower ground room was bigger and had a window to the outside. Wifi was tricky in that room. The other room had a window facing on to the pond which is in the lounge area. Wifi worked fine. Could be a problem, if guests are noisy, however.

Definitely recommend the gardens near peridinya junction. They're based on London's Kew gardens but much nicer. Lake in evening's nice too. Guesthouse is the nice end of the lake and you can easily walk to the Temple of the tooth.

Room Tip: Not sure. Both rooms I stayed in had pros and cons. If you don't need wifi in room, go for lower...

We have stayed at Greenview Hotel for a total of 6 nights in April. Initially for 4 nights and then for 2 nights after our trip to sigirya and Dambulla. We all loved being guests here especially my 10 year old daughter. We felt safe, welcome and so very well cared for. Our room and bathroom were very clean and very comfortable. Wasanthi is absolutely wonderful as a host and helped us in so many ways to make sure that our stay went well - nothing is toomuch trouble. She is able to advise on anything but is not at all intrusive. Manjula was our driver for our trip north and also to The Milennium Elephant Foundation. He is a very safe and reliable driver with lots of knowledge. He is patient and made everything that we wanted to see and do possible. Both Manjula and Wasanthi speak excellent English and are very well organised and prompt when taking bookings and responding to enquiries. Breakfast sitting out in the garden was delicious and our evening meals were superb. Wasanthi went out of her way to make sure that my daughter had lovely tasty food and also for my vegan diet.
We felt that we had excellent value for money and that our bill was extremely fair.
We used the swimming pool at a nearby hotel for 200 ruppees per adult and 100 ruppees for a child which was great as the days were hot.
The hotel is a small and pleasant walk to Kandy lake but far away from the business of the city.
Really hope that we get the opportunity to stay here again, I would highly reccomend this accomodation.

Nice villa (looking pretty old,but actually from '96) with great living room (the pond inside!), furnishings and clean, decent rooms. The houskeeper absolutely amazing, helpfull with a smile that can that would melt an iceberg :) Just outside the house you can have a breakfast with a view in a little garden. Why then not a first place ?
No hot water :( The pressure is realy low, which probably is common in that area, but hot water is dependent on solar energy. And cloudy day are not uncommon here sadly. Today the water was completly cold in the evening and that is no fun at all. Invest in heaters please !
Also there are temporary problems with wi-fi, but nothing serious.
First place is so close, but ...

We had the perfect stay in Kandy Greenview Hotel. You will feel very much at home there. Wasanthi is taking care of EVERTHING. She cares reaaallly good for the guests, knows a solution to every problem, and is happy to help with travel planning. Or just is up for a very nice and interesting chat in the evening. The garden of the house is very beautiful (there is a chamaleon and beautiful birds), you can sit outside and have breakfast. Breakfast is delicious. Our room was very, very clean and spacious and the bed was absolutely comfortable. The room is completely on very good Western standards. And best: There is a small pond inside the house with Kois inside. The house is located very nicely, just a short walk to the lake. If you want to have dinner, try the Garden cafe down at the lake, food is perfect there.
Overall, we had the best stay there of all our stays in Sri Lanka, was very relaxing. Thanks again Wasanthi!

We had a wonderful time at Kandy Green View Boutique, primarily due to our two hosts, Manjula and Wasanthi. Both took the greatest of care to ensure we had a comfortable stay, enquiring as to our needs at appropriate moments and providing well received pointers on how to make the most of our time in Sri Lanka, both in it's cultural capital and beyond . Whilst the established guide books we find an essential accompaniment when travelling, as the books themselves highlight, nothing is a substitute for a trusted local's knowledge - we subsequently engaged Manjula to be our guide/driver over the next several days. Our hosts spoke fluent English, allowing us to enjoy easy conversations with a couple of engaging Sri Lankan's, with good senses of humour. The accommodation itself provided a clean and simple bedroom and en suite bathroom, and although the shower pressure was a little weak, we subsequently found this was pretty consistent around the country's guest houses. More than offsetting this was a beautifully maintained small lawn and garden on which we had breakfast, overlooking a sharp but lush valley, which also served as an interesting short cut by foot towards central Kandy. Over the three days we were there we saw Kingfishers (several), frogs, squirrels, cranes, and quite fortuitously, a male chameleon's courtship ritual, followed by the less impressive actual mating on the lawn balcony. Whilst the latter was of course a stroke of luck, we witnessed a greater variety of wildlife in those few days in anywhere other than the national parks. One thing of note is that if you stay there you absolutely must try Wasanthi's home cooked food - it was fabulous. If it's a Sri Lankan experience is what you're looking for, then this is the place for you.
