Located close to the Kandy lake this hotel is a good value for money option. The staff is friendly and food is great. The hotel alos arranges for taxi tours to nearby locations. But it can get extremely hot and stuffy in summers

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the restaurant

I stayed two nights at Hotel Mango Tree and had a good experience. The IS a big construction site across the street, but much of the heavy duty construction is complete. The work ended at dinner-time and starts at around 7 am. I found it no noisier than any other city location.

I had a second floor room which was spacious and clean. The shower area needed some re-tiling work but was clean. The wifi worked well and the linens were new and fresh.

I ate three meals at the restaurant and was not dissatisfied but not too impressed either. I thought the rice and curry meal the best of the three. Having a restaurant on-site is convenient since it is a slight hike down hill to reach the main road. Tuk tuks are readily available. I would stay again.

The hotel is a good budget choice for Kandy.

We could only stay 2 nights because later it was fully booked. We had a good budgetroom, with attached bathroom because the rooms with shared bathroom were booked. The staff is friendly and helpfull. Didn't try to push us to book a tour, but kept asking if we wanted a tuktuk.
Rooms are basis but clean. Hot water is available, but a bit unreliable.

The place is cheap and all right. Best thing is the nice owner who arranged a 1st class train ticket to Ela (one day before!) and didnt charge extra for it. Also he arranged a free tuk tuk to a bar I went to meet some friends at night. Very considerate. I noticed him taking care of a guest who sprained her ancle and how he arranged a doctor to check it out. Good place to stay for women (alone), even if you dont need the protective father figure manager; its nice when he's there right?

Stay at this awesome little guest house for 3 night. When I said awesome I mean awesome. It's relatively close to city center (walking distance or tuktuk if u feel lazy) and minutes away from lake. The staff are excellent, helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The owner used to own lakshmi so all the staff including their amazing cook moved with him. They have complimentary train and bus stop pick up so no need to bargin with other tuktuk drivers who will try to charge u an arm and leg. However with that being said the owner is a little pushy with sales including tours, his tuktuk service or services provided by his friends (in my case massage). Overall love the stay will definitely recommend!

Average guest house although the owner was very friendly even after I returned late and had to wake him to let me in (I should have told them so I'd have had a key!) Room was ok although there were quite a few ants in my bathroom.
