This was one of two higher end hotels during our trip. Not cheap but rooms are very good - large with a small dining table, mini bar, wardrobe and seati ng area with tv. The bed was very comfortable and faced the surrounding hills so great view to wake up to. Food at dinner and breakfast was very average as it was all buffet so mass catered. Expected a lot better for the price paid, hence the downgrade to 3 stars for the review. Staff was fantastic. They have a pool but didn't use it. Very odd candle lighting ceremony at check in - I noted that it made most of the guests feel awkward so advice to the hotel is to stop it and stick to the welcome drink (3 juice choices).
Kandy itself has unfortunately really deteriorated - I visited it in the early 2000's and was a fantastic place to stay but it's now an overdeveloped, congested and polluted modern city that's full of noise and so much traffic that the colonial roads can't cope with.
