When we arrived at this hotel we had a warmly welcome. We had arrived to early to have our room. But they keep our luggage safety while we went to the city. You must have a reservation during the touristic season. Many groups go to this hotel. The room was well but it lacked some maintenance. Mainly in the washroom, the door shower was really hard to open and close. Warm water was coming after a long time. The bed was too hard for us. But the room was large enough. That was funny to see monkeys on our balcony. And you have a really nice view on Kandy from this balcony.

The restaurant is nice but not delicious, this is a buffet. This is expensive for the dinner.

This hotel is at 30 minutes walk from the city. We got lost when we was coming back at this hotel. It doesn't have many indication on the road for this hotel. Same thing for the roads name. The hotel is on the hill. With the temperature it's can be really tiring to come back to the hotel.

My wife & I spent 2 nights recently .We found the room in the old wing sub standard. There was hardly any cold water in the bathroom taps .Scalding hot water comes through the taps .Very poorly lit room. The breakfast was very basic.
I will not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Try the new wing rooms. The old wing rooms are pathetic

It overlooks Kandy, and the views are impressive. Rooms were pleasant and comfortable. Pool area and bar were just ok. Restaurant was more impressive, the buffet selection and quality was first class. The monkeys were not a problem, and were quite a laugh.Would certainly stay there again.

Spacious rooms (we stayed in the west wing) with everything working.

Bathroom a little tired and in need of renovation but hot water in plenty if you let it run a while.

Plenty of warning about the monkeys so no problems. Chased them away when they came too close to our balcony area but you need to be on your guard, don't leave possesions lying around and keep your doors closed.

Breakfast and dinner buffets were slightly above average compared to other hotels of this rating we have used in SriLanka.

Staff were efficient, waiters, bellhops, cleaners. Front desk were ok but just 'processed' us without much vigour.

Wi fi is in reception area and restaurant pool area only but none of our party were able to get a good connection other than in the lobby.

Its OK but nothing to shout about or seriously complain about.

Room Tip: For us, the west wing was quiet, away from the pool and restaurant and no unwanted noises although t...

The hotel is set on top of the town, since the bomb blast the direct road to the temple has been closed. So to reach the temple is a 20 min trip around the lake if travelling by car. The town is also not walkable, but as we had a car don't know if accessible by Tuc-tuc!
The hotel itself was very disappointing. After a long car journey we desperately needed a shower....the water was cold! Maintenance were called and came quickly and sorted the problem! But as we were on a tight schedule we had had to have cold showers! We chose not to eat in the hotel as it looked like a typical European buffet with a few curries! We walked down the hill and turned left and ate at 'History'. Good meal for half the price of hotel. Our real problems started when we returned to the hotel to go to bed! After turning the light out to sleep, we were confronted by an awful noise, after a lot of investigation, turning off the fan and air conditioning, we discovered it was the generators on the floor above us.....the horrendous noise continued all night, we found it difficult to sleep. At six o'clock the kitchen obviously started up as very pungent food smells drifted into our bedroom via the air con.....baring in mind this was turned off, not very pleasant at all!! All in all our stay was not pleasant and I would not recommend this hotel on our experience......however other rooms might be better! And we never saw a monkey!

Room Tip: Do not choose a room on the third floor. 821 was our room so any number on third around the 800 shou...

On the good side the breakfast and dinner buffet both had an extensive choice.
Our room was very tired with a badly cracked tile floor.
While some of the staff were friendly and attentive the general feeling was one of catering to tour groups who would keep coming no matter how they are treated. As an example our room was not cleaned on the second day when we returned from sightseeing and both reception and housekeeping did not answer the phone. Reception desk did not seem bothered that they could not be contacted but did get the room cleaned.
If we went back to Kandy we would look for another place to stay

This hotel was well up to international standard - masses of well-appointed rooms, good restaurant, pool bar etc so it would suit those who like that type of luxury. Not our style however so we were glad to be there for one night only. It would have been helpful to have in-room wifi rather than the flaky signal in reception.
