“new, modern and clean”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

This newly built hotel has only been open for two months – it is immaculate. The room is clean and modern, the bed is comfortable with new fresh linen. The bathroom is modern and a good size, the shower is hot and powerful, really needs a pump but is ok, with a little dip in the floor so the rest of the bathroom doesn’t get soaked.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they are lovely and speak good English. The breakfast is very good and served on lovely gold rimmed chinaware.
The wifi is good in reception, we enjoyed our stay in this new, modern and friendly hotel.
The hotel is in a good position, it is up a hill but not too daunting – we are not particularly fit and we managed just fine. Turn left, down the hill and a 15 minute walk to the lake and Tooth Temple. In Colombo Street is a good restaurant – Aroma and the road alongside is a the Royal for drinks or eating.
Note – there are huge moniter lizards and turtles in the lake – and bats hanging from the trees – keep your eyes peeled!

We took a gamble with this new place as the photos looked good but there were not many reviews to work with. We are glad we did. The room was huge, good bed, great bathroom and huge balcony. As it is a new build it has all the trimmings, good fixtures, fittings, lamps, curtains etc. Wifi worked in the room and the laundry service was cheap and actually clean ( not common when backpacking :) ). The rooms don't have AC so can get a little warm, but at 3500 rupees the rest made up for this. If they want to start charging more they will need AC ( I would guess they may install them at a later date). The location must be mentioned so people know what to expect. It is up a hill, easy 10 minute walk down to the lake and has a little shop for drinks etc just around the corner. The hill is steep so a tuk tuk was needed to prevent a sweaty climb but at 150 rupees this was not an issue for us. They also provide breakfast and dinner imupon request, not sure about price or quality as there were good cheap eats in town. Would Definately recommend this place unless you want to be in the dead centre of town. Great value!

We didn't book that place and we arrived there by chance. Immediately welcomed us Kumar, a very kind and witty gentleman. He's a cook and for the dinner he prepared for us a big, various and delicios meel. The room is airy, large and with a good relation quality-price. The bathroom is designed by an architect, in gray complete, very clean with hot water. Linens and tovels are provided. No mosquitos everywhere. The guest house isn't far to the temple. We reccomend it!

I found this place by chance but was so happy when I did - as a solo female traveller I really felt welcomed by the whole family. They cooked delicious food and often spent time sitting and chatting with Kuma (the owner) and his family. They truly looked after me whilst I was there - to the extent that Kuma's son even helped me to fix my bicycle!

The rooms are also really lovely - very clean, airy, quiet and spacious and I felt very safe there at all times.

A beautifully friendly and homely haven to stay when in the hectic city of Kandy!
