while traveling in Sri Lanka and doing some two days trips starting from Kandy I had my "basecamp" at Kenneth's for about one week. The location is perfect, a bit higher on a hill so it is not as hot as in the city, in the evening you have a great sunset with parrots in the background. Kenneth and his family are great hosts, always helping and making sure you will see how life in Sri Lanka really is. And the food is divine...I already miss it, but I was able to watch how it was cooked so I learned some tricks ;-) It was the first time I was at a homestay, and it was a great experience. you get to meet other travellers and really talk to them, maybe even do some short trips together...it is definitelly better than hotel, you can feel the real life...and if you have an early train you get food to go ;-)

A very nice home stay with comfortable rooms and great views across the city. Ideal for visiting Kandy as it is far enough out of the city to be nice and quiet but close enough for a cheap tuktuk. A great breakfast and Kenneth and Champi are happy to cook any of the wonderful Sri lankan morning treats you might have heard of, coconut and honey pancakes, coconut roti, hoppers....

Kenneth and Champi are AMAZING hosts! We had not only the best food but also the best service, attention and treatment in all of Sri Lanka. From our arrival to the comfort of the room, the taste of the food and the overall demeanor of the entire family, we were so DELIGHTED with our stay. Oh and WIFI was phenomenal. We had the downstairs room with the shared bathroom- loved having the access to outside.

Book this homestay! You WILL NOT regret it. Thank you Champi and Kenneth for our amazing time. :)

Room tip: Downstairs room has shared bath but access to outside

Kenneth and Champy were excellent hosts and made us very welcome at their Homestay. We had a very comfortable room and bathroom with air conditioning and fan.

Their home in high up on the hillside in Kandy, but Kenneth went to the effort of picking us up from the station. We felt very relaxed and the breakfast was excellent. An evening meal can be purchased at a reasonable cost.

More than any else Kenneth helped us plan our stay in Kandy. Even after checking out he took us around the town to help get our bearings. He came back later and helped us find the place where the cultural dance and music show takes place. He also helped us in buying tickets.

Because we could only stay one night with him, Kenneth organised another Homestay Hanthana Arcadia. After the cultural evening he waited for us and drove us back up the hill (4km) to take us to our new lodgings.

He is an exceptionally good man who went way beyond that other guesthouse would. Kim and I wish you and your family all the good luck and happiness in the world!

Staying with Kenneth and Champi was the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. They were the warmest and most generous hosts we could have imagined. Kenneth drove us into town and showed us around just for a small petrol contribution. Anything we needed, he knew where to find it. Champi is an incredible cook and the meals we ate at the homestay were by far the best we ate in Sri Lanka. She spoilt us so much and made sure we tried all the main Sri Lankan dishes over the few days we were there. Again, the contribution we made for food would only have covered ingredients (and was much cheaper than eating out), the rest they did out of generosity. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. They also very kindly washed our clothes for us while we were there. Could not recommend Kenneth and Champi more highly.
