“Good value - slightly off on location”
Reviewed 26 December 2012

It's a good resort 3-4 star- moderate sized and well kept. The location is a bit of a drive in the hills which makes it peaceful to stay in but a bit difficult to access from Kandy city centre

The rooms are good but not very cosy. I took some time to get used to the room - a bit bare, slightly dark and gloomy. However provides a goodnights sleep. Good views of the river in the hills outside.

It does have free wifi (even in the rooms) which is a plus but agoda,s etc somehow don't show this.

Not much to do or eat outside so you will be pretty much restricted to the food and activities in the hotel. Restaurants are a bit expensive and serve a reasonable buffet dinner.
Breakfast was ok with not so many choices

All in all good for 1-2 nights stop over in Kandy for relaxation and limited outings.

Room Tip: Take a river side room

The deluxe room was dated and surprisingly far away from reception (without lift access so you need to carry your suitcase) but clean, with everything you need and a nice view. The lobby, bufett area and pool make good use of the beautiful scenery. Service is patchy - we waited an hour for food and drinks in the lobby, had to make several attempts throughout the day to get details on a transfer, and had trouble getting tea served at breakfast. The staff are friendly enough but seem stretched. The Cafe C had great food and excellent service. While the buffets are busy the food is good and reasonably priced. Overall this hotel is clean, offers good in-room and in-hotel facilities, good food and a comfortable stay

We stayed here for one night whilst we visited Kandy. The hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment and had a lovely brand new feel to it. Staff were very friendly and attentive and very willing to help/answer any questions. Food was good, nice selection of Sri Lankan (the best egg hoppers and pittu on our whole trip) and western food. Hotel location is lovely, with great views over the river.....the open bar area is a lovely place to sit and take in the view.

The hotel has a veryveryvery nice view of the forests and river. I stayed there for 2 nights and had a good time in there. I loved having my breakfast over a nice scenary .. The swimming pool is also nice and the food on dinner buffet was good but with a focus on indian/srilankan food and less variety when it comes to international food. Overall, the place is good but service could be better as staff are not very attentive or at least someof them.

Room Tip: Best River view in Kandy

we stayed for 3 nights, the location is one of the best you could get, bang on banks of mahaweli river, excellent view from the room, great ambiance, restaurant needs a little improvement though, menu needs to be revised, not a lot of options for vegetarians, bar needs to stock up on some good brands otherwise pretty decent.....

Room Tip: anything on the second floor for an awesome view

By far the worst hotel in Sri Lanka. Owner probably lives in the UK and has never been to his hotel which has not been renovated since the eighties. This is a package tour hell hole. I booked a suite but all the coaches are parked outside Of the doors so if you want a 6am wake up call this is the perfect room for you. The other standard rooms are worse as you hear the conversation Of your neighbours or when they snore through the communicating doors.
