We spent 3 nights at the Citadel Kandy. It is located in a quiet and lovely place slightly out of town. The hotel is extremely pleasant and the swimming pool is great. The food was also excellent. Overall a very nice hotel.

Thank you for your response on our Hotel. We are truly delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. Our Hotel is situated a mere 10 minutes from the town and hence it enjoys peace and isolation from the hustle and bustle of the town while being in close proximity to some of Kandy’s relatives prime locations. We hope you return for yet another memorable stay with us.

Stayed there for a couple of nights in January while traveling around Sri Lanka. We arrived at the hotel at a very inconvenient time, maybe around 5am. Staff was very helpful and even arranged for our room to be organised at that early time in the morning. They understood we were extremely tired and had our room done in no time. Breakfast was nice with a lot of variety of typical Sri Lankan food as well as the normal stuff you get anywhere else. The hotel faces a river and forest and that is absolutely amazing.
Staff was friendly in general around the hotel, however there seems to be an impolite habit of constantly asking guests for tips in Sri Lanka and that happened at this hotel as well. Apart from that had a pleasant stay.

Thank you for your feedback on our Hotel. We are glad to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. Our staff are indeed very hospitable in nature and will certainly go that extra mile to make a guest feel comfortable and at home. We have noted your comment on staff requesting for tips however we will to state that this is not a common practice at any of our Hotels under our chain as our staff are highly trained and disciplined and are passionate about their work thereby not expecting any reward as result of their services rendered. We will investigate further into the matter however and thank you sincerely for your feedback. We look forward to seeing you at our Hotel again.

Our second experience of this chain following our 2 night sojourn at the Cinnamon Habanara. This place has had a great deal of money and care lavished upon it. A warm welcome on arrival. Beautifully appointed rooms of massive proportion. Walk in shower - and so it goes on.
Thought the approach road to the Hotel is by a narrow and congested lane, the site it occupies spreads along a broad in developed stretch of river. The terraces and pool are an ideal place to stretch out and recover after a long day exploring the area. Efficient service ensures that a refreshed glass is never far from your elbow, I'd that is your wish!
The restaurant, supervised by Arshad Buksh ( the nephew of our driver/guide Harry) keeps a watchful eye over the Restaurant and the Terrace Bar.
The food on offer is, of course, first rate with a wide selection of both Sinalese & Western dishes. The desserts and salads are presented in a walk-through cold room thus ensuring fresh and appealing offerings.
We tried the laundry service here and found that a 'before 10' collection was returned at 4pm at very reasonable cost.
In summary, we would recommend this admirable member of the Cinnamon Chain, without reservation (although a 'reservation' will ensure a room!)

stayed here on 12March 2013 and nothing that really stands out good or bad. just a smooth running clean and efficiant hotel and staff almost like a military drill every one is briefed well and carry out their duties as they are trained and nothing really stands out. It is a boring review but our stay was only a short one and not long enough to use all the facilities to write any more.

Room Tip: Jast a standard hotel with nothing that stands out.

This was our third hotel in Sri Lanka and once again we experienced excellent and friendly service from the staff. The room was a good size and equipped with everything one could need including a fridge/mini bar and safety deposit box at no extra charge. There were electrical sockets which took Sri Lankan, British, and 2 pin plugs. The bathroom had a walk in shower but no bath, we prefer a shower anyway but if you want a bath you may have to specify this. We had a lovely large balcony overlooking the river. The bed was very comfortable but I can only give sleep quality 3 not 5 because we were disturbed by loud music from the lobby. We had a small problem with the air conditioning but it was solved within 5 minutes.
The variety and quantity of food at both dinner and breakfast was very good and there was a "cool" room for desserts, salads etc.
Kandy is a lovely city and the hotel is very near the centre.

Room Tip: Ask to be well away from the public area/lobby if you do not want to be disturbed by loud music.

We only stopped here for one night on our way from Habarana to Nuwara Eliya but were very impressed. We stayed at the sister resort Cinnamon Lodge in Habarana which was more luxurious but the standards of quality were very similar. We were given a free room upgrade and had more space than we knew what to do with, it was certainly the largest room we have ever stayed in. The only gripe with this was that it was a long and confusing walk from a remote location back to reception. In the evening there was entertainment in the form of a traditional Kandy dance and the buffet selection and dinner on the balcony overlooking the pool was excellent. In the morning we had time to check out the very picturesque river that runs through the grounds before heading off. The entrance hall that leads to a wide open bar and pool looks very swish and the service was impeccable.

We were on a holiday trip to Srilanka and happen to stay at this hotel in Kandy. It is located in the centre of the city on the banks of man made lake "Kiri Mahuda". The space planning and ambiance of the hotel is excellent and we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The lounge bar and the cafeteria are spacious and offer a verity of food suitable to people traveling across the globe.

Room Tip: A room in the higher floors with good view of the river
