“Value for your buck”

A great view of the city. Most rooms had little balconies. Basic but clean rooms. A very good breakfast buffet for the price. We spent an afternoon in the lovely pool after a hectic day in Kandy. Friendly and helpful staff. Wifi only in reception and lobby. 250 rupees in a Tuk Tuk if you don't want to walk into town. On the whole, it was one of the best budget hotels we stayed in on our Intrepid Tour of Sri Lanka. And Kandy was one of our tour highlights. A very cool little city.

We stayed in this hotel only for one night during our trip to Sri Lanka. The lobby of the hotel was very nice and the view from the buffet area were great, but then they give us room 111. This room was located 4 floors bellow the lobby and the view was to what seemed like a disposal area, the smell was awful, and was not clean at all, there was even some towel in the floor used to clean...
During buffet dinner the waiter/cook was very nice explaining the food in the buffet ans the food was good.
Overall it must be a nice place to have lunch but not to stay.

Room Tip: Above lobby level

We stayed 2 nights here - the view from the restaurant was really nice, however our room was 4 floors below the lobby, looking out into a tiny garden-like space but cramped by the walls of the rest of the hotel/buildings next door. We would have preferred a room overlooking the view

The room was clean, the water pressure was very weak (not unlike many hotels in Sri Lanka, so you do get used to it)

Room Tip: try and stay within a couple of floors of the lobby floor (up or down) - ask for room with view

We stayed here overnight in one of their family rooms. 3 beds (1 quite hard), our room was on the top floor with balcony overlooking the swimming pool and road (only heard beeping in morning). The room looked recently refurbished was clean and had a bath, which our kids enjoyed. The views from back of hotel was lovely. The swimming pool was fine - kids used it. The buffet meals were ok and staff attentive. Tooth Temple was only 5 minute drive away. Overall, a good value hotel for 1/2 night stay.

Room Tip: Our room looked recently refurbished - top floor overlooking the swimming pool but there appeared to...

I stayed here one night during an overnight tour to Kandy. View from restaurant terrace is very nice, but rooms need some renovation, especially the shower, there was some mould in it. Towels smell very badly. Buffet dinner was quite good, but breakfast is below average. Very noisy, could not sleep well. Ok for one night, but definitely not more.

I stayed there for two nights and unfortunately had no other option, because I was on a package tour. It was the worst hotel I stayed at Sri Lanka, definitely! Don't be fooled by nice looking lobby!
First night I was placed in a room located 2 floors below the ground floor. The room seemed to be unused for a long time. It had a fusty smell! Even towels were smelling unpleasant. Moreover, there was no chance to catch some fresh air, 'cos the windows look directly onto other walls of: some staff rooms/kitchen (not sure), swimming pool's underside and staffs' car-park (keep in mind it was 2 floors below the ground!). The walls created a deep well with my room's windows somewhere at the bottom.
Of course we tried to change the room, but the hotel was fully booked and ... even overbooked! They were missing 2 rooms for our tour leaders. We were offered a superior room for the next night (will cover that later on).
Then I had to stay the night there. It's not surprise I didn't sleep well. In addition I was woken up on early morning by loud noise coming from opposite of my windows, ie. staffs' talks, loud radio, cars engines.
Next night I spent in a superior room. And here comes another discomfort, I needed a 2 beded room and got a double. Generally the room standard was far better the previous room, but even here not every thing was ok. The water pressure was so weak that water hardly leaks.
The hotel restaurant was poor as well: lazy waiters, modest choice of food, very tough meat and they rather didn't add food when it had finished.
Poor bandwidth WIFI was available in lobby and restaurant only.
My recommendation: Don't go there, staying there is totally waste of money!

Room Tip: Avoid hotel and especially the room #110. If any circumstances force you to stay there, take the sup...

Stayed for 2 nights as part of a tour around Sri Lanka so can't really comment on value as we payed a package price for hotels, transport etc.

Our room was ok with a balcony with mountain side view but the bed wasn't the comfiest with the springs of the mattress poking me in the ribs most of the night. The shower was temperamental and would change from cold to boiling at the slightest touch but, wouldn't cool down even if you switched it to just cold so you had to turn it off for a minute or 2 and then back on to get it just right.

We were half board and the food was ok but the drinks were the most expensive we got during our trip. Maybe they feel that they can charge more because of the elevated location knowing that most people won't fancy venturing out into Kandy because the hotel is just that little bit too far from other options.

Wouldn't recommend staying here as I'm sure there are better options to choose from that Kandy has to offer.
