Located about 500 metres from Kandy, overlooking the lake, Senani is surrounded by a tropical scenario. Rooms are are well cleaned, air conditioned and equipped with privates balconys, TV and a desk but no tea/coffee facilities. There are monkeys so be careful and don’t leave any doors or windows open. The service staff is quite good and the people are very friendly.
The restaurant serves buffet style for dinner and breakfast with a selection of Western dishes.
Some rooms offers great views for the Hunnasgiriya and Knuckles mountain range.
Two music nights at dinner with a live trio playing in the restaurant who were quite good and entertaining too. Good outdoor swimming pool and free Wi-Fi in the lobby.
Undoubtedly a good place to stay in Kandy.

Room Tip: Upper rooms, better views

This hotel was booked by Intrepid Travel for our tour group. It's a peaceful location with beautiful views overlooking Kandy, with a great swimming pool. Food was fine and rooms were nice and tidy. The hotel itself has an unusual layout and it can get a little noisy as a result.

This hotel was booked for us by our guide Sam Lanka tours, a really nice man and recommended. The view of the city was good but the food was cold and bland, we did not enjoy it at all. Others seemed not to mind. It is 300 to 350 rups from town. If you like an afternoon stroll it may not be the place. We asked for someone to check the telly 3 times as the ashes test was on, said no problem but no-one came. The second day we changed rooms as the cleaning agent used in the room sent my wife and I into a coughing frenzy. They obliged which was great. The rooms were clean but the tiles noisy. We preferred the room overlooking the city not the pool / road!

Room Tip: The first floor is handy but the tiles are noisy, View of the valley is good, not the pool or road

The Senani was chosen by our travel company, and as nice as the staff are I would not have chosen it. Like a previous reviewer, we had a room on floor level 1 and looked over the staff accommodation. Not an issue, as I wasn't here for the view. The pool is great, breakfast good and the room was really clean, bed comfy. Given the choice in Kandy there are probably better options.

A great view of the city. Most rooms had little balconies. Basic but clean rooms. A very good breakfast buffet for the price. We spent an afternoon in the lovely pool after a hectic day in Kandy. Friendly and helpful staff. Wifi only in reception and lobby. 250 rupees in a Tuk Tuk if you don't want to walk into town. On the whole, it was one of the best budget hotels we stayed in on our Intrepid Tour of Sri Lanka. And Kandy was one of our tour highlights. A very cool little city.
