“Excellent!”
Reviewed 30 May 2012

Everything was excellent. Thank you very much. The location is very very beautiful and I believe it is one of the most beautiful places of Sri Lanka. Rooms, food, and all the services given are excellent and we hope to return next year too. Keep up the good work.

Room Tip: All rooms are ok

This was the first of many places that we stayed in Sri Lanka for our honeymoon and it was one of the best. We love wildlife, so having monkeys on the patio outside our room within 10 minutes was a great thrill! The rooms are OK, the major downside is that there is a just a very thin door between you and the next room on one side. Luckily our neighbors weren’t too noisy. There was a traditional wedding going on the first day, I guess it’s a popular venue for that. It was good to see and didn’t bother us, but was a bit uncomfortable swimming in the pool with all those people there and we were glad that it didn’t go on all day. You can see Sigiriya rock from the pool area, but they need to cut back the trees a bit to give a better view, it’s an amazing sight after all so why not make the most of it? We hired some bikes from the hotel (need a bit of maintenance) and explored, but were careful not to go to far as we were told about roaming elephants in the area that can be very dangerous! It was good though to check out the local shops where you can buy snacks and soft drinks at a fraction of the price that the hotel charges. The food at the hotel was pretty good, one of the best buffet selections that we saw in Sri Lanka with something for everyone (even my vegetarian wife!). In summary it’s definitely worth staying for a few nights, but no more than that.

The hotel is really chalets over a large piece of land. Just as you can see the Rock Fortress from the swiming pool, you can see the pool from top of the Rock....if you climb it. We were 4 ladies who stayed for 2 nights on a historical/ cultural tour. The ayurvedic spa was the best in the area. We met the doctor there and he is very knowledgeable, with clientele even in Europe. Ayurvedic massage is not at all like the western nor more energetic massages in the East. The steam bath at the end is a must-have.
The landscaping at the Padi Fields section could be filled up and some plants grown over it. It looks a bit of a mess than a decoration.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during cultural tour the location is fantastic with lots of monkeys and other animals in the grounds, The bungalows are ok for a couple of nights but could do with a bit of updating. The food was very good with loads of choice and excellent curries. The drinks are quite expensive and make sure you get a receipt if you pay at the bar because they charged me for 1 on checkout that I had paid for the night before. We left at 7.30 in the morning to climb sigiriya rock and had got to the top and back down by 9.30 before it got to hot which is probably the best option as I don't think we could of done it later in the day when it's much hotter. You can get an elephant ride by the hotel entrance up the road and along a track through the jungle, a lad comes with the mahout to take photos and video with your camera and does a good job, an excellent experience and well worth the money and the large tip.

Room Tip: Try to get a room near to the main building as some of the rooms are quite a long walk.

This lovely property is surrounded by trees and has a lovely lake just outside the reception and dining area. The rooms are bungalow style and are spacious. Unfortunately there are no tea and coffee making facilities and the internet is only available from reception and is very iratic.

The meals were very good. Buffet style, the selection was very very good and delicious.

I would recommend this hotel as it has a lovely "jungle" feel to it.

I would not however recommend having your laundry done here. All our lovely whites came back very grey and our t-shirts shrunk.

We stayed in Sigriya for 2 nights way back in 2008. Beautiful place lot of greenery . The breakfast and dinner was great. They served drinks in the pool. My collegue went for their honey moon in March 2012 and had the same amazing feel as i had in 2008. Summary Good cozy place to stay.
