stayed 2 nights while touring SRI LANKA. Hotel is what you would expect in a rural area. Pretty basic room that has seen better days. Great pool after hot day climbing the rock (not to be missed) but the real let down was the food which was cold and tastless.

We were in Sigirya Village early June. As we were travelling from Kandy it was little tiring for us and we were looking forward to relax. When our driver took us to the hotel from the point of the Gate we were happy. The welcome was lovely with the Village Head man greeting us saying “Ayubowan” We were taken to our rooms and on the path way the Monkeys were walking all over and looking at us.

We only heard the birds and the Monkeys Noises and the Shaking of the Leaves on the tree. When we sat in the restaurant we could view the Lion Rock. We were staying here for two Nights and we climbed the Lion Rock early Morning the next day and the Hotel was very helpful to us by giving us our breakfast packed.

We went for a village tour which was organised by the Hotel it was something new to us and we enjoyed by learning the living of Sri Lanka.

We enjoyed our stay at Sigirya Village and we will definitely recommend this Hotel to our Friends.

Room Tip: The Temple Cluster

I booked two standard rooms (186 and 187) at Sigirya Village for single night. We actually wanted to get some good sleep before trying the Lion's Rock. One of the first attractive things is the scenic view of the resort. The reception, the restaurant and bar right next, are well set and look like any other resort. As you walk towards your room, you would realise why this is a good place to stay. Lots of lush greenery invite you into the hotel.

The rooms were clean, however the bathroom doors never close completely. A small magnet on the top of the door from inside keeps the door intact while someone is using it! The bathrooms were clean and hygienic.

It might have been an experience only for us - the power went off for couple of hours in the early hours of morning. Having travelled from Colombo to Sigiriya the previous night, we expected a "relaxing sleep". However what we went through was stay without A/C at 3 in the morning. Since the phone in our room did not work, we had to walk over to the other room that we had booked and call up the room service! Atlast help arrived 4 AM and it was good 30-45 minutes before the problem was rectified - apparently the problem was only with the two rooms that we had booked!!!

Food was good - the best part being the "welcome" drink!!

Again, this is a place good enough if you need some rest before attempting the daunting Sigiriya Rock Fortress!

Room Tip: Consider getting a room a little "inside" as that would be away from the main approach roa...

Very nice accomodation and clean, very friendly staff and replicas of the old village life throughout the complex. The meals were very good and just outside the hotel was a large lake with lots of bird life and monkeys and a good view of Sigiriya Rock. We had a few hours spare so sat at the pool and watched the monkeys climbing trees and jumping into the pool on top of each other - it was good to see.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms would be the same as it was a village type place. Some were nearer the lobby...

Stayed here for 2 nights during the World Heritage Centre tour. Rooms are big and clean. The location is great in one way but not in another...you get the feeling of isolation but then there is nothing around you as an alternative. Great pond with Muscovy ducks and plenty of monkeys climbing trees and rooftops. Food was good but pestered relentlessly by flies during breakfast. They seal the minature alcohol bottles in the mini-bar with wax (to ensure you don't use them and fill them with water) and they checked the mini-bar while we were having breakfast on the last day. Well worth a stay here but not for any length of time.....

Everything was excellent. Thank you very much. The location is very very beautiful and I believe it is one of the most beautiful places of Sri Lanka. Rooms, food, and all the services given are excellent and we hope to return next year too. Keep up the good work.

Room Tip: All rooms are ok
