From the arrival we were in awe, the setting is beautiful and you look over a pool towards the rock. We were created and showed to seats and offered drinks and cold towels.
First issues we had were at check in when they took our passports and returned with another couples, luckily my husband had looked at them.
Second issue was we were told driver accommodation had to be booked and was full so our driver had to go out looking for a hotel which were all full, granted it turned out that this was our tour company fault as they should of notified the hotel for our driver and had not.
Next step we were shower to out rooms and upon entering the cleaners told the girl ours was not ready and I had requested a top floor room so she tried to put us in the ground floor which they were just finishing up cleaning so we had to wait a few mins outside , it was only when i noticed the room number was different and queried why we were going in a ground floor that she apologized and said the top was not ready so we accepted this as we were desperate to get changed and hit the pool.
The room itself was fine, nicely decorated and spacious with great atmosphere at night as it lite up with candles.
Bar was fantastic and not bad priced, in fact the manager offered a round if drinks in the house to make up for out problems which was great and restored our fate as he took notice.
Next issue was we decided to eat at the Chinese restaurant and were disappointed as we ordered two starters one vegetable rice wrap and prawn dumplings, now my rice wrap came as not described on the menu and Our other started came as a soup & since I know Chinese food we pointed this out to them which they wanted to change but the soup was very good so we ate it and they brought us dumplings which were terrible, Chinese dumpling are tender and meant to be eaten whole and to our shock we discovered when biting into these that the prawns had the shell and tails still on. Again the restaurant were good as they took the starters always and did not charge us and our main courses were excellent( chilli crab & chow main).
The hotel is stunning however they need to train their staff & also have people in charge who speak good English.

My husband and I had a relaxing two night stay in the Aliya Resort. The highlight of our stay was 6a.m. complementary yoga with Anura by the beautiful pool. Only my husband and I showed up so we were treated to a private session.
When we arrived we were immediately impressed by the clear view of Sigiriya, the contempory decor and spacious lobby. We booked a deluxe tent but were shown to a room. As we walked back to reception to check was our prebooked tent available we passed two porters going to the room with our bags. They weren't too impressed that we had left the room and we were embarrassed when one of them muttered "Tip tip". After some confusion a tent was found for us and we were glad we persisted. We did tip the porters who brought our bags to our tent but it was not a good impression for the hotel and if left a sour taste in our mouths.
Inside the tent was a really comfortable bed, bedroom furniture, a tv and an AC. The text was attached to a cabin with a toilet, bath, shower, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
The breakfast and lunch selection was good and we really enjoyed the dinner buffet. The pool was massive with plenty loungers. It was a pity there was only wifi in the lobby considering the price we paid. The service was inconsistent but overall we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is amazing. Clean, Cousy, and beautiful rooms.
Two problems In the rooms, no wifi, and a very low stream of cold water to fill the bat. As we filled it the water was extremely too hot.
But don't mind it. The pool is awesome, the view from it is great , directly to the lion rock.
The food was good a little bit too expensive. Service was good also, in the restaurant and in all the hotel.
They have a great bar there! My wife enjoyed several cocktails for a reasonable price.
Defiantly would come again

The hotel building, rooms, pool & facilities are very good and there are spectacular views of Sirigiya Rock. Sadly the hotel is let down by poor standards of service. During our stay every morning we had to ask multiple waiters several times for coffee. Our room was not cleaned until after 4pm, toiletries were not replaced at all despite our requests, used pool towels were folded and handed back out out to different guests.
It is a shame such a nice hotel has so many basic things to improve on.

Cleanest hotel we have stayed in Sri Lanka. We've stayed in a nicely decorated tent. The breakfast buffet was nice. The swimming pool was great and clean. Overall staff was very responsive.

The downsides are the limited hot water on the tent, not enough to fill the bath tub therefore it is pointless also a shower longer than ten minutes or two concetative showers is impossible. The wi-fi is only available on the lobby which is unaccepable on an hotel at this price range.

Room Tip: The tents are nice but not located for privacy (Too close to each other and their direction is towar...
