This is a really good "boutique hotel" with great view of the Sun Moon Lake.

Walking to Sun Moon Lake cable car station is only about 15 minutes.

The room is big and comfortable. One of the best part in the room is the big bathtub with Symphony of LED lights.

We also love the western breakfast with Sun Moon Lake view. Yummy!

We all enjoy the stay.

We stay in the 701 Triple Room with Lake View.

We stayed in the double room with no window apparently that was what we booked without knowing. Anyhow it doesnt matter I reckon because on the 2nd floor there wasnt much view to boot. To get to this place one would have to either take a bus ride to Ita Chao and walk into the populated street once you get down. They are literally opposite a 7-11 ... just ask the local around and they are helpful to lead you along =)

This Hotel looks clean and good and akin to a typical hotel so the bed and breakfast is really a little understated for their standards. Like everyone else have rave about the stay I too have most of that. The bath room was big but the room we had was really quite cramp but then again for a couple of nights stay I think it is okay no problem at all as we didnt lug a big luggage anyhow.

Breakfast was simple and I frankly love it. Porridge with carrot cake and eggs...the view of the breakfast room was also amazing! Unfortunately they have a big praying festival going on when we reach where pure vegan diet must be observed for the county for a week. Hence night market and everything else was literally close. Food was frankly sarce ... luckily there were instant noodles at the convenience shops which is peppered along the street of the hotel.I can imagine this will be a fun place when everything is open and functioning like normal.

This area where we are at is also nearby to the cable rides abt 15 mins away by walking and there is a quaint starbucks inbetween the shops... Nice to rest and relax and take things slow.

My big complain however is my room was full of ants which drove me crazy. There were ants in the bathroom and the room. We couldnt keep anything on the table top all it will be swarm with ants in no time. Any food, milk powder for my kid, tissue paper even lip balms have to be keep in the fridge or out of the room or the ants will come. Arrgghh drives me crazy. Advise to all is not to stay at the 2nd floor room because I reckon this is the only one with the ant issue since no one have complain about that.

Overall this place is still however highly recommended.. and if I didnt have the ants issue I would really say this is one of better hotels I stayed.

Room Tip: Avoid the 2nd floor windowless room with the ant problem

Hard to find cheaper accomodation in Sun Moon lake. Book the no window rm in Skylight B&B as it look decent from Agoda for the price.

Was glad we booked this B&B. my wife and i Love this B&B alot. The room is cosy, deco is nicely done, cvery clean room and bathroom. Only thing is bedroom is abit small. There is a jacuzzi in the room too. Where my son enjoy playing in it.

Friendly staff, only see one staff thoughout our stay. Haha.

Breakfast is simple but very yummy local breakfast. Breakfast area is top of buildin which give you a view of the SML.

This place is new, clean and extremely comfortable. Our family stayed in a triple room, which is very spacious, with a good size bathroom that comes with a huge soaking tub. The room is well designed and decorated. Lighting and tv are all electronically controlled. They offer western movie and disney channels, so it was good when we had to stay in the room during bad weather. Huge glass windows offer great view of the lake.
Breakfast is either western or taiwanese porridge, and both are very tasty, and well cooked and presented. Staff was friendly and helpful too. location was great, within walking distance to boat rides and cable car station to formosa cultural village. We stayed two nights there, and everyone really enjoyed the stay. One of the best accommodation in taiwan.

Love:-
- the toilets (with Grohe fittings and a spa pool)
- the high-tech control panel that controls the lights, aircon & TV (but only if you are sleeping on the side of the control panel)
- the Western breakfast (choose Western over the Eastern Taiwanese porridge!)
- walking distance to Ita Thao ferry terminal
- the spacious quad-sharing room
- the modern deco of the hotel
- 7eleven, family mart, souvenir & eating stores a few steps away
- powerful wi-fi everywhere in the hotel

Dislike:-
- the double room with window and without window had absolutely NO difference. I felt cheated for having to pay more for the double room with the window
- the double room is awfully cramp. there's hardly any space to open up the luggage/walk around
- it's hard to find this hotel if you've never been there before because it's lobby is so small, it gets buried among the other souvenir/food stores in the same row
- the control panel that is only easily access by the person sleeping on the same side of the panel

I highly recommend this place!!! What a good price compared to all the other pricier and older hotels around Sun Moon Lake.

I don't want to repeat what everybody is raving about this exellent small boutique hotel. It is all true and better! It is a real gem and we were happy that we didn't stayed at Shui She. The hotel is located on a pedestrian street with lots of food options, tea tastings and souvenir shops. But when you step inside the hotel it is quiet. We loved our room on the 6th floor and having breakfast on the 8th floor was very nice. Staff was exellent, especially Emma who helped us to get back an forgotten bag on the train. For a small fee the owner took us in his car to the train station. We would rate this hotel 5*.

Skylight B&B is a very comfortable and clean small hotel with very modern fittings. There is a remote control for the lights, radio and TV and a relaxing sunken bath with stone tiles. Toiletries, a kettle with tea and coffee, indoor slippers and mineral water are provided. There is supposed to be wifi in the room but I could only access it close to the door and not other parts of the room.

The staff are very friendly and make the stay a homely experience. There is a choice of Chinese and Western breakfast. I opted for the Western breakfast which had a good variety, including eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, toast, fruit and orange juice.

The hotel is easily accessible about two minutes' walk from the Ita Thao pier, but this was inconvenient for me as I had to take the ferry back to the Shuishe pier (where the bus station is) to catch a morning bus back to Taichung. If you have time to spare, this is fine and the Ita Thao area is probably a little quieter and less touristy than the Shuishe area. There are lots of food options near the hotel for meals, such as small restaurants, eateries and food and fruit stalls. However, if you are trying to catch the sunrise, apparently Shuishe is a better location. This may not be a major consideration as the sunrise at Sun Moon Lake is said to be quite elusive - I did try to hike up the Maolan trail in the early hours of the morning but the mist obscured the red hues of the sun and I only glimpsed a very diffused and faint pinkish-orange patch. The misty views were worth the 30 minute walk uphill though.

All in all, the hotel was very good value for the price and worth staying in if you are looking to stay in the Ita Thao area.

Skylight B&B (bed and breakfast) is in a great location at one of the main piers of Sun Moon Lake, Ita Thao, which is an aboriginal village. The B&B is sited in the middle of the shopping street with many food stands and restaurants, only a 3-minute walk from Ita Thao Pier. Due to the neighboring high buildings, the rooms don't offer lake views. Despite this, Skylight B&B is proud of its modern comfortable design. Every guestroom is well equipped- with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating facilities, a flat-screen TV, a fridge, an electric kettle and free toiletries. The bathrooms each have an overhead shower and also a huge stone bathtub, which will definitely release your stress and wash your weariness away after a long day. The bed is queen size and it comfortably helps you have a good sleep at night. Guests are offered a fresh and delicious breakfast on the top floor of the B&B. They can relax and enjoy the sun terrace of our outdoor restaurant. Skylight B&B provides easy access to all attractions: a 15-minute walk to Ropeway Station, a 15-minute drive to Shuei-she Bus Station, and is an 80-minute drive from the Taichung High Speed Rail Station. Sun Moon Lake enjoys an abundance of unique and interesting sightseeing spots, such as Ci'en Pagoda, Xuanzang Temple, Shiwatou Trail, Dazhuhu Trail, Peacock Park, Wenwu Temple, Longfeng Temple, and also many lovely trails and bikeways.
